Hey Mike Congrats on getting the Visa :dance:

I was looking into the Sat dish for Thai TV, but Ton has found a web site that you can watch all the channels you want for free. It isn't too bad if you have dsl or cable. Let me know when she gets here to Torrance and I can give you some tips on places to go for food etc...

Ton is still having some adjustment problems.

I will try to find that website address for Thai TV and Radio.

Dan

Here are some websites with Thai TV, as Dan said, you have to have DSL, Cable or other high speed broadband. Here are just a few, these are the ones Pan have used.

http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Thailand.html

http://mediahopper.com/portal.htm?http://m...evision/204.htm

http://watch.squidtv.net/010302asia2t-01thailand.html

This one is cool because you can watch several at the same time. this is Pan's favorite.

Dan

Dan,

Just hang in there. It took Ying several months to adjust but now things are going great! We just celebrated our first anniversary May 25 and are looking forward to many more. If you want you can have Ton contact Ying directly. She'll be happy to help in any way she can. Send me a PM and I'll give you her email and phone number.

for me - no problem adjusting (well.. a little like missing my family and find a job)

apart from getting comfortably to the new home....what i like most and help me the most is actually talking to some one who is also expereinces the same thing... and eat Moo-Kra-Ta

and the things that help are... meet new people., my dog..and work.. really help

AOS = 5 months

BTW what do you mean by supporting docs? Do you mean the entire I-134 Affidavit of support?

The lady at window 5 will definitely tell him copies are not acceptable, and have your fiance ask to reschedule the interview.

That's good to know that it's possilbe to reschedule the interview. I really hope so. I sent the entire I-134 in the mail, the notarized one along with the original employment letter. I emailed my husband copies but the I-134 obviously won't have the notary seal because it's a photocopy.

Let us know how it works out.

Other than making closet space, what did all of you do to make your fiancee comfortable whe she arrived?

Anyone have the thai satellite TV? How can I get it here in Los Angeles?

I remember we talked about this a while back, but I can't find the thread.

I purchased a Coolsat 6000 receiver and a 30 inch dish and we are hitting the 97-W IA bird for all the Thai channels that are free. She LOVES it and I kind of enjoy watching it every so often. I'll post more details later but yes it is possible and the only cost is the equipment and the effort of putting it up.

RIch

Thanks, I will look into it.

We went to several Thai temples around the Bay Area, mostly, the one in Fremont, Calif... Wat Buddhnusorn....she has made several friends by going there.

I also go to another Forum type website called Thai-Falang Board http://forums.delphiforums.com/thaifalang/start and before my wife even came here, I had met a lot of Thai-Falang couples that lived in the Bay Area that also go to the thai temple in Fremont... when Pocky came over to USA, I took her there to meet those same couples...plus the Thai food is not bad, som tam and BBQ pork w/sticky rice

Perhaps you could do the same in Los Angeles, I know there is a big Thai Temple (or two) there..sometimes being with other thais and talking with them will help with adjustments and feeling of comfort...

Hello Dan,

I still want to get the Thai satellite tv. It's much better watching the big screen iso the computer.

I will definitely get in touch with you after Wan arrives. We can meet up for dinner or whatever....

Have you started on the AOS yet?

Yep, Wan was there Friday morning. I will ask her if she saw you.

I guess I should have said that....

thai2luv,

I didn't need to do much to make her more comfortable at home...actually my wife adjusted pretty well and SHE was the one to re-arrange things here to her own likings...like everyone else we had shopped at an Asian/Thai grocery store to get Thai ingredients...

I'd also like to add, to help in adjustment, socializing and perhaps the boredom of staying at home, my wife enrolled at the local adult school for ESL...I think it was good for her and she had made several friends along the way.

Well to all those who do not know ... We got the Visa and Tik is home. SHe is having a great time , Today is my first day back to work. I am a little worried but I think she will be just fine. dakineman,

Check the web site of the Thai embassy in Washington DC - it's got a list of temples all across the USA. The consulate in LA might also have a list.

Hi Everyone,

We have our interview sheduled for 23 June which is a Friday. Does anybody have experience with a Friday interview? If approved, do you go back Friday afternoon or Monday afternoon for the visa? Thanks!!!

Most likely Monday the visa will be handed out.....My wife's interview was also on a Friday but she had hers given on a Tuesday because the following Monday was a US holiday! :o
