URGENT! PLEASE HELP!

Ok, it's my fault. I should've gotten this out sooner but I was waiting for my letter of employment. I just recently got employed. Anyway, I got the letter on Wednesday and sent out all the supporting documents Thursday (yesterday). Fedex told me it's scheduled to arrive Monday evening. I don't know how the Memorial Day holiday is going to affect this delivery. My husband's interview is Tuesday morning at 7 am. What should he do if the documents don't arrive on time? The problem is that he has to travel from Chiang Rai to Bangkok and he was planning to go down a day early and pay the $100 fee at the post office. Now he has to wait for the documents to arrive before going to Bangkok. Can he pay the fee at a post office in Chiang Rai or does it have to be in Bangkok? If the documents don't arrive in time, should he go to the interview anyway? There's no way to call the embassy, I know. I can email him all the documents as a PDF file but they won't be originals. I know the I-134 and employment letter have to be originals but I have to deal with the situation I've got here.

What's the worse case scenario? Should he go to the interview and ask to be rescheduled? We don't care if it has to be rescheduled for a later date. We just don't want to start from the beginning again. Yes, we still have our I-130 going through the process but that's the last option because it could take several months from now. I think I've heard that there have been cases in the past where documents were missing or the sponsor didn't meet the income requirement and those individuals were able to come back when they had enough evidence. Would our case be treated like that as well? Please, I am desperate and open to any suggestions. And yes, I accept criticism too. I should've done this sooner. I'm so mad at myself! Please help.

I can only tell you that the $100 fee, there will be people who can go pay for you at the front of the embassy while he's waiting for the embassy to open.. normally i get the post office recept like 9.30 or 10am... and they deliver to you in side the embassy..

i just think that if the mail reach him on Monday then he can still fly to BKK on that day and still make it for the interview. I think you can buy it in Chian Mai too since there's a US embassy there... but plese check.. i'm not at all certain.. just possible.

and Monday is not a holiday in Thailand so i dont think this will effect anything...

Thank you for your suggestion about paying the fee. These people in front of the embassy, do they work for the embassy? Are they just regular people on the street who want to make some money by doing this? The interview is at 7 am and I don't think the post office opens that early so this probably won't work. I just wish the fee could be paid at any post office and not just in Bangkok. Thanks for your help.

There is now a Thai Post office kiosk right inside the consulate, just outside of the building for the visas. It is new, and Red colored. The 4,000 baht can be paid there.

I would definitely send PDF files of everything as a back-up. It is better to show up and give them what you got, and have them tell you what you need, then to just try and reschedule. Don't worry, the lady at Window 5 will let your husband know EXACTLY what she needs!

Talk about cutting it close!!! :help:

Regardless of whether he makes the interview or not, you will not have to start over from the beginning. The embassy already has your approved I-129f and it continues to be valid for 4 months from the NOA2 date.

I am sure this happens on occasion.

If time and money is not a factor, I would definitely have your fiance make the interview without having received the employment letter and "supporting documents". Send everything via email and have him take the copies.

BTW what do you mean by supporting docs? Do you mean the entire I-134 Affidavit of support?

The lady at window 5 will definitely tell him copies are not acceptable, and have your fiance ask to reschedule the interview.

If the docs don't arrive Monday, and you choose not to make the interview, send an email to the embassy explaining the problem, and request the next available interview date.

If the docs do arrive in Chang Rai on Monday, he can catch the next available flight to BKK.

No matter what happens, I am sure you can reschedule the interview.

Best of Luck to both of you.

That's good to know that it's possilbe to reschedule the interview. I really hope so. I sent the entire I-134 in the mail, the notarized one along with the original employment letter. I emailed my husband copies but the I-134 obviously won't have the notary seal because it's a photocopy.

I purchased a Coolsat 6000 receiver and a 30 inch dish and we are hitting the 97-W IA bird for all the Thai channels that are free. She LOVES it and I kind of enjoy watching it every so often. I'll post more details later but yes it is possible and the only cost is the equipment and the effort of putting it up.

Hey Mike Congrats on getting the Visa :dance:

I was looking into the Sat dish for Thai TV, but Ton has found a web site that you can watch all the channels you want for free. It isn't too bad if you have dsl or cable. Let me know when she gets here to Torrance and I can give you some tips on places to go for food etc...

Ton is still having some adjustment problems.

I will try to find that website address for Thai TV and Radio.
