Way to go Chutima and Robert  Congratulations!!

George

Hey George! Baby Anthony sure is growing fast!!! :o:thumbs:

Well, things are going well, settling in nicely. Chutima just about has all her things unpacked and put away, and is getting used to the layout of the house. She swears I used to run a restaurant because of all the stuff I have in the kitchen, so she is pleased with that! She's even got "turned-around" inside the house, which I found quite amusing! She tried to go out the hall closet, thinking it was the door to the garage!

There is a grocery store that carries a lot of Thai products that we have already been to, and this weekend I'll take her to the other side of the island where there are more stores with better selections, especially concerning produce and fresh seafood! :D

I'm glad this is a three-day weekend coming up, so we will have time to do our shopping plus some more sight seeing. We're still trying to decide on a wedding location here on the island. What is funny, our temps are ranging between 69 - 79 degrees F and Chutima is complaining about beeing cold!!!

Other than the marriage certificate and some supporting evidence for the I-864, our AOS package is just about complete. I'm ready to get that started!

Well, that's about it for now. Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! :dancing:

Aloha,

Robert & Chutima

Cold in Hawaii huh? Now that is funny. Glad you found a Thai supply house. They come in so handy. My wife and I went to a Thai place here to eat dinner and it wasn't even spicy. What a dissapointment. I think they have lived in the states too long. Her cooking is better.

Enjoy the holiday everyone. Kirk and Jenny. Oh yeah, check it this picture of us at the Grand Canyon last week. See ya

I met my honey in Iloilo!!!

Assuming all goes well with the interview, I have a few questions re AOS and AP.

Is AP granted only for "emergency" intl travel? (death in the family, etc....)

Without AP, will my fiancee have to wait until she has her greencard to travel back to Thailand?

Thanks

Sorry for the late post, but I've been pretty busy since getting home and getting settled. Wanted to tell our story concerning the Bangkok Consulate for future members going for their interviews.

To begin with, I arrived at 4:00pm on the 15th and we stayed at the Centre Point Wireless Suites just up the road from the Consulate. Very nice hotel with great breakfast buffet! Chutima's interview was scheduled for 7:30am the next morning, May 16th.

Woke up at 5:30 and went to eat breakfast at 6:10. At 6:35 we headed out the door, on foot, for the Consulate. Arrived at the Consulate at 6:45 (cheated, and got a cab half-way there since the shoes Chutima was wearing were hurting her feet!). Were inside the Consulate at 7:00, and at Window 5 by 7:15.

Handed all our documents to the lady at Window 5. She gave back the two photos, the copy of the NOA2, the X-ray she removed from the Medical Exam envelope, and the 3rd sheed from the DS-156. Had me write my name on the DS-156K, had Chutima sign the DS-230 Part I, filled in the blank on Q22 of DS-230 Part I "In what occupation do you intend to work in the United States?", and asked for relationship photos. I handed her a ziplock baggie with 5 photos inside, and that was it.

At 7:25 got called back to Windo 5 where a Thai man was now sitting, who asked for 2 passport photos, so I gave the photos back, telling him we were given them back before! He just said "Sorry".

At 8:50 we were called, this time to Window 6. First the man called Chutima's name, then mine. It was hard to understand him, so I walked up trying to find out what was going on. I thought maybe they wanted something else. The man at Window 5 pointed over to Window 6, so I walked up. There was an Amereican man there, who asked me if I had my passport and could show him any stamps showing I was in Thailand in 2005. I gave him my passport, which had 5 entry/exit stamps! Then he spoke with Chutima, in Thai, and asked her how many times I had visited her, and when did I arrive the last time. He then asked me, in English, if I spoke Thai, and I replied to him, in Thai, that I spoke Thai. He then had Chutima signed the DS-156K, scanned her index fingers, filled out the white index card, then handed it to us along with all the proof of relationship documentation we had handed in. He told us to come back the next day at 3:00pm to get the visa, and there was no need to come early! At 8:55 we were walking out the door!

Then next day, May 17th, we went back and waited in the American Services Section waiting room for a Thai man to show up with a cart full of visas, give a short talk, in Thai and some in English, and then handed out the visas with the "brown envelopes" attached.

All in all, a very painless procedure, but glad it is all over!

The night of the 17th we took freinds and family out for a celebration dinner, then the morning of the 18th we went to see the Monk who did our Thai ceremony, along with Chutima's mother, to get blessing for our trip and new life together. The news was very good! The 18th we went to Quality Suites Airport to spend our last 2 nights there, since we had a very early morning flight on the 20th. Chutima's best friend, sister, mother, and step father met us at the airport.

At the China Airlines check-in counter, there were no problems, and I had already obtained and filled out the Thai Arrival/Departure card for Chutima, since I knew it would be required for her to get through Passport Control. I had also picked up an I-94 in advance, and had that filled out and ready for the POE. Made it throug Passport Control without any problems and headed for our gate!

When we finally got to Honolulu, it was 8:00am when they opened the aircraft main door. We made our way to immigration, only to find there were 11 other families from an earlier flight from the Philippines waiting to be processed!!! We waitied an hour and 45 minutes before we were finally processed. Just prior to our number being called, the supervisor called me over and appologized for the delay, and brought some additional officers over to help process all the cases. We were treated very politely and had no problems getting through Immigration other than the long wait. Good thing I didn't schedule our flight to Kauai until 12 noon! A representative from China Airlines had came looking for us to make sure we hadn't abandoned our 4 checked bags, and told us where they were. After clearing Immigration, we were able to get our bags quickly and then made it through customs without any problem either.

We are now pretty much unpacked and settled in. Thank goodness this is a long weekend so we can go do some major grocery shopping and "stock-up"!

Well, that's about it! If you managed to read through all that, thanks! It's now on to AOS!!! :D

Sorry for the late post, but I've been pretty busy since getting home and getting settled. Wanted to tell our story concerning the Bangkok Consulate for future members going for their interviews.

Hey Robert & Chutima....Glad to hear all is well!! Indeed your post will make others who are still going thru the K-1 learn a lot about the interview process...Pocky's interview was similar to what you both experienced...

And yes our baby Anthony is growing up fast, going on 7 months now...Looks like in no time we will, or we may here about junior Robert? or junior Chutima? :luv::P

regards,

George

YEAH BABY WE GOT!!! :D:yes::thumbs:

My fiancee, Wan, just called me from outside the Embassy with the great news.

She was so excited, she couldn't stop talking, but I did manage to get a few questions in.

She arrived at the Embassy about 630am and sent me an sms. She couldn't believe how many people were already waiting in line. The embassy opened at 7am and she went straight to window 5. Turned in everything they asked for, signed a few forms, and took a seat. She waited about 2 hours for her name to be called, then went to Window 6. The consular officer spoke with her in Thai, and asked only two questions. Where was I from? she replied California., and How many times did I come to see her? 4 times.

That was it. Piece of cake.

I told Wan they would probably ask 4 or 5 questions, but she wouldn't believe me. she was so worried about the interview being a full blown interrogation. After the two questions, she was told to come back next Tuesday 3pm for the visa. Monday is the Memorial Day Holiday. They kept her passport.

What a relief it's now over. Well, until AOS anyway.

Thanks to all of you for your assistance along the way. I guess it's time to check out the AOS forum. :D

Congrats to all!

It sounds like all our experiences at the Embassy have been similar. Roi aggie’s recount of the events was remarkable! As I read his review I remembered more about mine. I was so nervous that morning! Now on to the AOS. I have a few questions….Anyone know what a “certified copy” of a marriage certificate is? We are planning on going back to Thailand in December. Should we file for an AP now? Is there a sample cover letter available for the AOS?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

A certified copy is the copy with a raised seal, you can usually get a certified copy at the county clerks office for a small fee.

We are in a similar situation, depending on Dao's work schedule we may take a trip back to Thailand in late November or early December. We have not applied for AP yet and are hoping her AOS comes through soon. If we are not scheduled for an AOS appointment by the end of June, we will probably file for AP at that time.

WOW!!! Everybody is having a great news!!! YEY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thai2luv

The AP is also for normal traveling.. not only for emergency.. you dont have to wait for GC if you want to travel just apply for AP.. it's $170 if i'm correct ;) But if you live in the state that process fast, I think you might just wait for the GC and save the $170 for shopping instead

If i remember correctly there's a sample AOS cover letter in the old SAWASSDEE.. let me go check for u ^^

K-1 = 4 months

AOS = 5 months

I-751 = almost one year
