Hi there,

I got the e-mail from the embassy for the interview date for my fiancee, but it is not on the schedule website yet about 4 days ago. How often is the website updated? thanks

We finally got our AOS interview letter in the mail today. We are scheduled for June 19. and we only have to drive about 9 miles to get there! I am sure that day will come sooner than we think. So I guess now I need to get started on gathering/copying all the paperwork i think I might need. :help: If all goes well, it will mean about 1 year total for the whole process. :clock: Faster than I expected when I first started, thats for sure. :P

Congratz to both of you!!!! I'm so happy for you!! My AOS interview is coming up in 8 days!!!!

[Hey Statsman, what kind of paperwork did Ying need to get her drivers liscense. So far all I have is the marriage certificate and the SS card, all with her maiden name on it. I need something with her new name on it. Thanks, Kirk and Jenny

All Ying needed was anything with her name on it with our address, her passport and our marriage certificate. She had to take a written exam then pass a driving test. I think each state is different. In Wisconsin an illegal alien can get a drivers license as long as they a piece of mail with their name and WI address on it. The leaders of our state don't care if the person is in the US illegally. They just want drivers to have a license because the feel the person is a better driver because they passed the test.

With the interview coming up later this month, I guess I should start looking into the AOS process. I need a break!!!!

BTW, I guess now is as good a time as any to plug my business.

If you need to ship anything to or from the USA and Thailand, I would be happy to provide these services. My company has offices in most major ports in the U.S. and offices in changmai and Bangkok.

We are an air and ocean freight forwarder and I am a Licensed Customsbroker.

Hi folks, first wanna say thanks for providing the great help and info on this site and forum.

I've been getting really frustrated lately. I've found the interview date for my fiancee on the Bangkok Embassy website(May 18th, a little more than 2 weeks away!!) , but have yet to recieve the Appointment Letter(packet 4).

I emailed them about this 2 weeks ago and they sent a reply that they will "resend the letter". I still haven't recieved any additonal letter! She's a Cambodian national so all letters are supposed to be sent to the petitioner. Which means I then have to send it back to her! I'm afraid it won't get to her in time if I don't recieve it soon! Why can't they just send it directly to her?

From what I've read over the net, she needs the appointment letter and a payment form to get into the interview!! What happens if she doesn't have these? I do not want them to have to reschedule it!

Does anyone know of any experiences like this? What should I do at this point?

Hi everyone!!

I have a question about sending forms to the embassy

packet 3

DS230 PART1

DS156

DS156K

DS157

MEDICAL

POLICE CERTITFICATE

I-134

Are there any other forms I need to send? Please, help.... :help::help:

Bill

Bill,

Take a deep breath... we have discussed this many times already on this thread, and rather than telling you to go back and look for it, I will just tell you. The items you must send into the consulate to get your interview date are as follows:

Check-list (signed and dated with address)

DS-230 Part I (unsigned)

Two Passport Photos (Print name on back in felt tip marker)

Copy of Passport

$100.00 bill (just kidding! wanted to see who was paying attention!)

Only the first four items, and make sure you put your case number on the outside of the envelope and address it to the "Immigrant Visa Unit".

Good Luck!

P.S. Take a couple of shots of Sang Som!!! :D

Hi Roi!

How nice of you for not telling to go back for the old thread. Thank you for clearifying my questions. Where can I send $100.00 bill ? How would you like me to send it to you? FEDEX OVERNIGHT? MONEY ORDER? HEHEHEHEHHEHHE...I need some Sang Som really....

Bill

Has anybody tried to get a tourist visa from Thailand while waiting on your K1?

I do not plan on doing anything illegal and my fiancee will leave the country as required when the visa has expired. I just want to know if I should go through the trouble and expense based on other peoples experience.

In order to receive a B2 visa, you must prove to the CO that the applicant is not intending to immigrate. Since a K-1 visa is for the purpose of immigrating, it might be a little tricky to prove otherwise! It is hard enough to get a B2 visa in Thailand, so I would think it next to impossible to get one when applying for a K-1.

drogger,

In most cases a tourist is required to leave the USA long before their B2 visa expires - B2 visas can be valid for as long as 10 years, but the authorized period of stay in the USA as a visitor is 6 months max.

But to answer your question, your fiancee will have to have circumstances far different from most other Thai people in order to get a B2 visa without a K visa in process, with one she'd have to be even more unusual.

Pardon my ignorance, just got NOA2 last night but is it imperative to sign-up for the US embassy in Thailand's "Visa Information and Appointment Website and Call Center" service? If so, anyone know the benefits and if it can help you get a quicker interview date? Any experience using these two services and recommendation if one (the call center or website) service is better? Any other tips on how to get a quicker interview date in BKK? Thanks in advance!

You do not sign up for that. That is for non-immigrant visas, and though technically a K-1 is a non-immigrant visa, it is processed by the Immigrant Visa Unit in Bangkok. You must wait till your case is sent from the NVC to Bangkok, then send in your Packet 3 documents, then wait for your Packet 4 which will have your interview appointment letter. Now is the time to get the Police Certificate and Medical Exam out of the way, along with collecting all the necessary documentation for the interview, including the I-134 and supporting documents. You cannot get a "quicker interview date" at Bangkok. Expect a 30 to 45 day wait. Search the timelines for other people going through Bangkok to get a better idea of the kind of wait to expect.

Congrats on your NOA2.

Just a little clarification on the 4 items:

The check is for $100, right?

The passport photos are of her (the Thai national)?

The copy of passport is hers?

Oh, and how/when do you contact NVC to get a case # and find out status? Thanks.
