Billy,

you still have a little ways to go. Your case will be forwarded to the NVC and then to the BKK Embassy.

I would first confirm the Bangkok Embassy has received your case. After confirmed, send the completed and signed checklist, DS230 part 1 (unsigned), beneficiary passport copy and 2 passport photos.

After sending AOS package you should received an "NOA" for the I-485; in that NOA there will be instructionson how to schedule biometrics. Don't know if things have changed but thats is how my wife's experience went. Good luck,

Yes, things have changed. Your biometrics appointments will be scheduled for you by your local office and you will receive an appointment letter in the mail (usually about 4 weeks after the NOA). You can no longer schedule your own biometrics appointment. I have heard of some people doing a "walk in", we tried but were turned away and told to wait for our appointment.

You can do a walk-in but only after you have received the appointment letter. We received our appointment letter rougly 13 days after our NOA1 with a date of 4/18. We could have walked in anytime between April 12-18 for the biometrics. One note: If your wife does not have a state issued photo id yet you will need a marriage certificate to indicate name change. I had to have this faxed from my county courthouse which kept me from having to return. The biometrics appt had her married name and her passport had her maiden name. I've got to get the state ID next week so I don't have any more problems.

Hey does anyone know how to get a state ID with her married name on it or do we have to wait till the AOS is approved?? Thanks, KnJ

Well, in Georgia it is the same place you get your Driver's License. For me that's my local State Patrol office. Take photo ID and your marriage certificate. The certified one and not a copy as the raised seal is important. I'm on my way next week to pick it up. You do not have to wait until AOS approval. Just get it in her married name. I should have done this BEFORE our biometrics appointment.
