Thanks Twellspeak. Now tell me about the vaccination supplement. All I have is the checklist from Bangkok. What did you use for yours? Thanks alot, K n J

We looked online and went to a local civil surgeon. Some of the shots require that a series bee completed, so she may need more shots. The shots can be expensive at a civil surgeon, so be prepared to possible shell out a bit of cash.

Ty

My civil surgeon advised that if Thisa needed more shots I could have these done by my primary care doctor. We use Kaiser so if more shots had been necessary we could get these done at a reduced cost and then carry the documentation to the civil surgeon to be transferred. No need to pay the Civil Surgeon for the extra series of shots unless of course your wife does not have health care yet.

Hi All,

i'm a newbie here and would like to get to know all. i'm from texas and my thai gf is here on a K1 visa. planning on getting married soon. but don't want to procrastinate until the final month of the 90days deadline. planning on just driving to the court house and get married then have a big thai wedding next year. how inexpensive is a thai wedding of about 100 guests in Thailand?? after getting married at the court house, how soon will i recieve the marriage license? and can i go straight to the SSN and get my girl a SSN card? can she work after she get her green card? or do i have to file the I-765 application for employment, dont' want to spend money on the application if i dont' have to. sorry if my thread is lengthy.

I forgot to mention that my thai girl's nickname is Kwan but her real name is Punnarai. but the INS mispelled her name, so her passport and everything says her name is Phannarai. when i applied for the K1 visa for her i kept the name Phannarai instead of her real name Punnarai because i didn't want the confusion and scared of any delays. she would have to go to Khon Kaen to correct her name, but she didn't have time. my question is should i still use her incorrect name Phannarai? or use her nickname Kwan on Marriage Certificate, SSN card, driver's license (whenever she gets it), and on other things like insurance card? please help!!

Hi all you guys out here,

First of all thanks for all the help and advise. The Embassy has confirmed that they received my fiancee 's case in their system, and already sent me ( to the US) the packet 3 since April 11. I have no idea when I will get it. Now I don't want to wait for it. YOu guys have advised me that the packet 3 can be downloaded from the Embassy site, and they are all the same. I downloaded and filled out the check list ( except the signature) and DS230 ( with no signature). I fedexed it to my fiancee in CAmbodia, and now she has received it. I will ask her to sign the check list and send it off to Bangkok. Here is the content of the package my fiancee will send to the Embassy:

1. Check list ( checked and signed)

2.DS 230 part 1 ( unsigned)

3. Copy of her passport

4. two passport pictures

My question is "Does she have everything now with the above four items included for mailing to the Embassy for her interview schedule?" Please advise. I want to make sure every thing is done properly. Thanks again for all your help

Su scanned in her Visa and sent it to me I noticed on the visa it had an annotation that said "MED" I tried to

look it up but had no results. The only thing I could find was something of the US Department of state web site that led me to believe that she may be quarantine at the POE. Has anyone seen something like this before on the visa...maybe it is normal. I even tried calling the Department of State but had no luck getting through. Does anybody have the answer?

Does it say anything after the "MED", such as class?

Welcome to VJ, AJ. :D

OK, if she has been here two weeks, it's time for a trip to the Social Security office to apply for her SS Card. If she is in the "SAVE" system there, she should receive a card in about a week, If not she will have to be manually verified (could take 4 weeks or more).

We (Dao and I) are basically doing the same thing. We went to the courthouse and were married here in a simple civil ceremony. We will return to Thailand sometime early next year and have a Thai wedding. The cost is very variable, it can depend largly on what type and where your wedding will take place as well as if there is any sin sot.

You take your chances by not filing an I-765. Sometimes the I-485 is approved quickly, sometimes it can take a lot longer. Almost always, the I-765 will be approved before the I-485.
