When I tried to add Dao to my account they would not accept her Thai ID Card, Thai Drivers License, Passport, or SS Card. They handed me a sheet which gave me a list of acceptable forms of ID due to the "Patriot Act", one of those are her EAD card, so at the moment that is what we are waiting for. I have read that different banks interpret the Act in different ways.

I tried to add Ton to my bank account yesterday, they said she needed more ID then just her passport and SS card. They said she will accept her Thai ID even though there is no engish on it what so ever. I really have to change banks!!

This is disturbing news! I assume the SS cards you both used already had their new married names? I'm wondering if taking the marriage certificate would also help? I hope some others on the thread will add their personal experiences, because this was something I was planning on doing as soon as we got Chutima's second SSN card, with my last name on it.

Perhaps getting a state ID card will help. I added my wife to my savings acct (Patelco Credit Union) . They only asked for her CA ID card which was in her married name (the CA ID card she obtained before marriage in her maiden name-then changed the CA ID card into married name after marriage).

I did not bother to add my wife's name into my existing checkings acct, instead we opened a joint checkings account at B of A with my wife being the primary account holder; and the only ID my wife provided was her CA ID card.

George

Well.. we finally had Dao's biometrics done today for both AOS and EAD. When she asked how long it would be before she would receive her card the only answer they would give is "up to 90 days". I know it will not take that long .... unless... hmmm I dont want to even think about it!

Congratulations Anya!

Oh, I'm at home now.. here is what the card from my bank states are acceptable forms of ID.

CT Drivers License

CT State ID Card

US Military ID

US Passport

CT Pistol Permit

Permenant Resident Alien Card

Employment Authorization Card

They also state that their ATM cards are acceptable forms of ID to open an account with them... ummmm. I'm not sure exactly how you get the ATM card before you open the account.

When we added Mariyas' name to my account I don't remember showing them any ID at all. we didn't even have her SSN yet. We took her passport but it was in her maiden name. Why should they give a damn as long as you agree to put that person on your account. After all it is "your" account.

How could you have the interview so fast. I saw you track your case via DHL in a few days, and then mailed in your packet 3 check list. Don't you wait until you are confirmed that the embassy get your case in their system first? you guy are real expert on this. My case was received at the embassy, and I keep e-mail them to confirm now before I send in the checklist. I will learn this from you
