(Depending on if you are in a hurry or not, go to ikobo.com. The first time you send money it takes a while due to the fact they have to send her an ATM card. Once she receives that, then it is instant and there rates are the best.)

That works ok for Thailand but there are few ATM's in Cambodia and they do not do money orders or travelers checks. Most Cambodians do not trust banks or their govt so they deal mostly in cash. They do not do credit cards. They do take USD so you do not have to convert your money. If I sent a small amount I hide it in some junk mail and sent it to my wife's uncle's travel agency. We never know if it is going to get there or not, just hold our breath and wait for news of the delivery. so far only one has not made it and it was my fault for not hiding it good enough.

thank you all for the info. I will open a new account there....I've used money gram to send money....I hate to stand in line too long...

You have any Thai video stores near your home? Some offer money transfers with next day service.

Tik mailed the packet 3 to the Embassy today.

It is funny, she mailed from the post across the street from the embassy.

The one and only time I tried to send money to my fiancee in the mail, it never made it. :(

Hello Thai2luv

Money gram is good too..My fiancee can get the money in 5 minutes after I sent. The only thing I really hate is standing in line too long in WALMART. The fee to transfer is not too bad..$9.59 for $300.00

Billy,

As you will see here, there are many ways to send money to your fiancee.

Some people open a separate U.S. account with their bank, and send the fiance(e) the ATM card for that account. Of course, DO NOT to send the PIN with the card. Give her the PIN by email, and she is all set.

Alternatively, if it's a one-time transaction, you can send money to Thailand using western union. they have offices everywhere here. The only caveat is that you can't send money FROM thailand to the US, they only allow incoming transfers. I tried to send money TO the us and they don't allow it. had to do a bank transfer.

Also look into bank transfers (not for cambodia obviously), you can wire money from account to account pretty quickly (1 day) and you're positive that she'll get it since it's going right into her account.

The ATM card trick is the way to go. You can even leave your own name on the card. I recomend calling her with the PIN though. Its about 6 bucks per transaction though so make it count. Good luck.

Hello skyman & Ufkenmill

thank you for your info. $6.00 per transaction is not bad at all.

Thank you for the info for co-sponsor.

But I can not open the website for the co-sponsor as you guy suggested. I read the I-134 instruction, it did not say anything about co-sponsor. I think the co-sponsor needs to meet the same requirements and fill out the same form as the petitioner. But I can not verify that under the I-134 instruction. Please advise other litterature I need to read. Thanks

Well, according to the NVC letter, my case was sent to BKK Embassy on Mar 22nd. I checked the DHL website and don't see any packages sent on the 22nd. Only before and after.

So, I sent an email to the embassy a few days ago asking to confirm receipt of my case, and advising them of my fiancees new address. They didn't have the case in their system.

I just sent another email thanking them for looking into it, and asking to check again.

I hate to keep asking, but my fiancee moved and I don't want the embassy sending the packet 3 to her previous address.

Sure hope they confirm having the case this time around.

Should I just go ahead and have my fiancee mail in the packet 3 without confirming the embassy has her case???

Wow, our SAWASDEE thread seems to be suffering a slow death :crying: . I had to go all the way to page 3 to find it.

I received an answer from the embassy, and they now have the case in their system. However, the packet 3 was sent to my fiancees old address  . Can you believe two days ago, it wasn't in their system, but now the packet 3 was already mailed out.

They will mail another packet 3 to her new address.

All is moving along well. :D

Just to let you, and others, know what has happened in my particular case, the NVC sent my case to BNK on Mar 10th, and from what I could tell using the DHL website, it was received on Mar 13th by BNK. I had Chutima mail in her "check-list" and associated documents on Mar 17th. On Mar 23rd I received a response from the Embassy to an e-mail enquiry by me, giving us our interview date and indicated her "Packet 4" was mailed on Mar 22nd. On Mar 27th she received her "Packet 4". To date, she has never received a "Packet 3". If I was you, I don't think I would sit around waiting for "Packet 3", since all the forms necessary are available on the BNK website. I believe there are a few members on here that actually received a "Packet 3", but the majority never did. I personally feel they don't bother mailing it out, since many of us have already printed out all the necessary forms, and submit them as soon as we know our case has been received at BNK from the NVC.
