YEY

I got my EAD!!! eventhough it's a 8 months one (they call it interim EAD) but now i can work!! also did the Biometric (walk-in) as we dont want to drive 3 hrs back there!! (woke up at 4 this morning. soo sleepy)

For some info - We went in the DHS and it was moving quite fast until they told us to wait to get our piture taken then we can go home.. the wait began at 8.45 (our appointment was 8.30) and there's noone else - we are the only one in there.. so we wait and wait.. 9.30 the lady at the indow told us that there's a kind of policy that they have to take 2(TWO) people for picture taking... so litrally.. i'm waiting just for another person to come in for EAD too!!! finally there's someone came in at 9.45 and they call us to take the picture at 10.15..... soo frustrated... what if i'm the last one? dont i have to come back the next day so i can take picture with another person?... ahh... anyway.. i got my EAD

Also... went to change my name in the SSN today.... frustrated again coz they said it'll take about 4 weeks for me to get the card.. they need to verifiy my documnt before they can issue me a new card with my new name in it... so now.. i cant go chage my name in the driver licence ... ahh...

CJ nice to meet u!! it was very nice to know there's someone out there still using that old camera ;p we got home safly, i drove half way here and was too sleepy to do anything while Bram drove the rest of the way...

Congratulations Anya and Bram! It was a pleasure to meet you two as well. Now that you have the EAD time to get to work! At this rate, by meeting 3 visa journey members in the past 1.5 months, I should be able to meet everyone on here by the year 2010.

Its nice to know that things are moving right along for you. Overall, I think that the whole immigration process is an interesting and eventful experience although it has its annoying little things here and there. You would think that with the photo that they would use a digital camera instead of the old fashioned picture. But then again, I have not upgraded my digital camera in 8 years myself so I am not always on the forefront of technology either. :-)

When Jum arrives, we will have to plan a little get together. And, thanks again for the food! Get some rest, you two have had a long day. All that just for a card with your pretty picture on it. Which reminds me, I need to get my driver's license address changed.

Hope to see you guys around again soon!

Mike,

I agree with them - if it were my wife, I wouldn't be worrying about it. I don't think there is a problem.

But then, I wouldn't have gone off and gotten the forms from a source other than the visa application package from the consulate or the clinic that performed the examination.

Yodrak

Yodrak

I am delighted that we finally have the forms that are not expired. So it is a moot point and i do not have to worry about it any longer.

But are you saying that you think that the Embassy would have accepted the forms that had expired in 2004. I must admit i do find it hard to believe that the US Embassy in Japan would have forms on there web site that are out of date (but they did) and unacceptable. But then again...why do they put expiration dates on these forms if they will always be accepted? I guess it's just how things are done. (We never did get a visa application package...i wonder why?)

I believe you must mail it to them and cannot deliver it in person. This is what we gave them to get our interview date:

DS230 Part I - Unsigned

Copy of Passport

Completed Checklist

2, 2x2" pictures of beneficiary

Don't send this to them unless you know they have your case. Also, plaster the case # everywhere so they don't have to waste time trying to figure out what it is.

They speak the cambodian language there and are very helpful generally speaking.

Too bad they changed their procedure. Last year about this time Ying was able to call everyday to find out when the petition arrived. She was then able to go to the embassy the next day to drop off her paperwork. I'm sure it saved us about a month.
