Hi again!

Well I'm off to Thailand in the morning!!! Wi will have her interview on the 15th, without me :( . But I will be there a few hours afterwards. I will be staying for a few weeks  ,, so we will have the time to wait for the "call" from the embassy to pick up her visa  . I will try my best to let you guys know how it went and what to expect. We will be returning to South Florida in early April. (L)

Thanks for all your help,

Brent

Congratulations and enjoy the trip. Don't worry about missing the interview cause its soooo easy. My honey said they only asked 2 questions. Good luck, Kirk and Jenny

I met my honey in Iloilo!!!

Ray, thanks for the update. We are going for C's interview on monday the 20th and ended up getting our x-rays from the hospital just in case we needed them for some reason at the interview. It doesn't look like we'll need it there but we are bringing it anyway.

So march 20th 7am is D-Day for us, I'm looking forward to it but am nervous at the same time. We have everything in order though and are hoping for the best..

Pom Kid Thung Khun Krap,

When are you going to explain to us the item you posted a few days ago about your fiancee's visa not being issued until she returned to the consulate with her x-ray?

Did she go back with the x-ray, and did they then issue her visa?

I am sorry I thought I did explain it. Well when the Dr was looking at her Xray he saw something on her Lung that was in question. There was Xray from when she was a child to compare it to. The Dr said that she will need to wait two months to see if the area grows. Since her interview was only two days away he told her to go to the interview and once he can clear her he will. So at the interview when asked for the Xrays she told the interviewer what the Dr said and they still did the interview. She passed and all we need to do now is wait the two months to get the clarence letter and Xrays from the Dr.

As for her situation once she was back in her home town of Hat Yai she went to a Dr there and he said that he did not see anything on the xrays and not to worry. She went back to the Dr a month later and had another Xray done. The Dr in BKK could still see something on her lung but it did not grow. So he gave her a CT scan. The CT scan did show something but it is not solid it is a old scar or infection. He put her on a strong dose of antibiotics that should clear it up.

The scary thing is that I am so far away form her and it is hard to understand all the issues with the Dr reports. I had her email them to me and I took a look at them and had some friends who are Dr's and in the medical field and they also said that it nothing to worry about.

I guess once this is all over there will be another issue to look for when K1er's are applying for the visa. I would say from what I have learned to get the medical as soon as possible. We had a chance when I was there in Nov 05 but did not. At this time I wish we had done it then.

Ray

Billy,

Yodrak is correct. My wifes parents were divorced and her mom retained custody of all the children. I don't believe either parent automatically gains custody of the children.

When you say " But her ex-hubby won't let her come to US" are you referring to your wife or her child? Her ex has no say in if your fiancee is allowed to come to the US or not. If he is the custodial parent of the child, he does have a say in if the child is allowed to come to the US.

Ty

yes..she did tell me about her daughter. But I thought since she does not have her daughter custody so I DID NOT put her daughter name on my I-129F. So, you mean that she can correct at the interview? But her ex-hubby won't let her come to US. I am crossing my fingers there will be no problem.

Hello Twellspeak!!

I am refering to her daughter. Her ex-husband won't let his/my fiancee's daughter come to US. He has a full custody of his daughter. In Thailand, whoever has the money will have the custody. I guess it is normal for Asian Country. Money talks.

Billy,

It is not true that the father always has custody of a couple's child after a breakup. My sense is that the opposite is generally true, because in so many cases husband gets tired of his wife when she's pregnant, finds a new girlfriend while wife is unavailable to him, and ultimately disappears into the sunset because he doesn't want the responsibility of being a father. Not that that scenario exists for all cases, my wife's ex- paid weekly visits to his son, was not happy about his ex-wife getting married to a farang and taking the boy to the USA, and after 2 years still calls every month or so to speak with his son. But the point is that he did not get custody in the divorce, my wife did.

Why did you not list your fiancee's daughter on your I-129f? Had she not told you about the girl at the time you filed? I don't think it will hurt your fiancee's visa application to correct the oversight at the visa interview. If you're asking about applying for a K2 visa for the girl the answer might be different.

Hello All

I have a question about the child custody in thailand. My fiancee has a daughter. She told me that her ex-husband has the custody of her daughter. In thailand, father always has a custody of daughter? Is this true? Also, since my fiancee does not have a job, her ex-hubby will have custody of her daughter. So, I guess, her daughter can't accompany my fiancee to USA. On my I-129F, I put no children. Is this going to be a problem at the interview? Please, notify me if someone has had experience with this before.

Billy,

Why did you think that custody issues have anything to do with I-129f Q13? The items says, "List all children of your alien fiance(e)." There is no indication of any exceptions.

I've suggested to you someone who could provide more knowledgable information about what to do and whether or not a problem might arise.

Hello and thanks again for the Thailand thread!

How fast is the Bangkok embassy once the NOA2 is on the way? We were wondering what time frame to expect between the packet 3 being turned in and the interview and K1 visa being "in hand"? And we hope we do not have to encounter the infamous "window 5" lady!

Search the immigration timelines by clicking on the link at the top of the page.

Look at our timeline also. It took almost exactly 2 months for the interview date after packet 3 was given to them. Allow a couple of weeks from NOA2 to the time the embassy gets your case. Make sure you get the case # assigned by NVC, the BNK embassy can't help you with by answering questions without the case #.

Mike,

I don't understand why the travel agent can't sell you a ticket for Jass.

Like George, I bought my round-trip ticket and my wife's one-way ticket directly from the airline (NWA in my case) on-line at their web site. When visa issuance was delayed, we re-scheduled the flights at the NWA office in Bangkok. For a small fee.

Yodrak

I am trying to buy airfare from Boston to Thailand round trip and will need to buy airfare for Jass to join me on the return. The travel agent I use says she can't sell me Jass's ticket. I am concerned that if i don't buy all of the tickets at the same time we could end up on two different planes. Any solutions?

Do you have any travel agents or websites that you have used and can recommend?

Thanks

Mike

I agree... I have no idea why they can't sell me a ticket for Jass. It is some what consistent though. When I was in Thailand I asked a travel agent about being able to buy my round trip ticket from them next time I am coming to Thailand. They told me they couldn't sell me a ticket to come to Thailand. My flight had to originate in Thailand for them to sell it to me.

I looked at the Thai air web site and found prices of $2500.00 and up.

I looked at the Eva web site and found prices of $2030.0.

I finally managed to get two travel agents one in the USA and one in Bangkok to set me up for flights. I paid $945.00(RT) and $990.00 (one way). I am just glad i have the tickets.

Damn it...so damn close..

I got a dreaded RFE. They said I need to provide more evidence that my fiancee was in Bahrain during the time we met. I sent a damn Good Conduct certificate from the Kingdom of Bahrain that is only issued to people that have lived there and provided her address and work address and phone numbers for when she was in Bahrain.

The only other thing I can send is a copy of her passport (which she got scanned and sent to me via email) I received that today. So I will send that back to California tomorrow.

Anyone else have any ideas??? I hate the thought that this petition could be disapproved if I can't come up with anyother evidence besides her Thai passport. By the way, does anyone know if I need to get the Passport translated??? It's in both Thai and English anyway. :bonk:

Anyother help??? Comments??? Thanks!

Blacson30,

Sorry to hear about the RFE...once USCIS is satisfied though, the petition should get approved. The passport showing entrance and exit from Bahrain should be the best evidence for your fiancee being in that country...My opinion is that you shouldn't need to translate her passport it since its already in English.

Good luck,

George
