thanks for the info. I thought I remember some people saying they got their interview in like 3-4 weeks after the embassy received the P-3? something that was really fast.

I'll nvc on friday. that'll be 1 week since they approved it so maybe they'll have something for me..

anybody out there, know about sending the p-3 in before the p-3 is sent out to the beneficiary?

I've already got the police report taken care of.

its just the interview and medical.

My Noi got her interview in 10 days! Which kinda sucked, actually, because it made it impossible for me to be there. But all's well that ends well.

By the way, anyone know if it's still in the 2-3 week range for the interviews? If so, that would be great :)

Edit! Holy beans, 10 days?! That's great news!

By the way, anyone know if it's still in the 2-3 week range for the interviews? If so, that would be great :)

How many wedding dates do you intend to have?! There is no reason to rush to a court house to get married, because 90 days is plenty of time to plan and get married, especially if you've already done some ground work, like finding a wedding planner, or someone like that.

Robert

Well in my case, the rush is saving 1000s of dollars if we have the wedding by December 31. The difference in income taxes between filing "single" and "married filing jointly" is pretty big. I know it's not romantic, but we discussed it and she thought it was a good idea... and after all, we had the unofficial Buddhist ceremony in Thailand back in August.

So we are doing the same thing. Courthouse wedding in December... family wedding later.

Well that's one good reason for getting married by Dec 31st!

Yeah, in our case, not sure it would have made up the difference for the more expensive flight though! Oh well.

Does anyone know a good Website (free or otherwise) to download contemporary Isan music? I kind of like it (in small doses) and was hoping to surprise my SO by having some MP3s for her to make her feel at home.

Thanks!

What a GREAT IDEA!

My Tilac said she didn't want to talk to any Thai people here once she comes because she "heard" (geez, they put SO MUCH WEIGHT on gossip and what they "hear") that the women are catty and think they're richer than so and so and the catty competition is just as bad here as it is there (I do know it's ruthless and nasty there).

I think it would be great to find some Thais locally but she told me yesterday "everybody say not do...everybody say lady not nice once they move to farang country". I tried to tell her everyone's different but that's what I get for finding a small town girl. They rely heavily on what they hear and gossip.

I guess all I can do is try and show her there are plenty of others just like her over here.

That's interesting. My fiancee and I had the exact same conversation -- me trying to hook her up with the local Thai community and she saying she's not interested. I wonder if that will change though.

That's too funny. I have been trying to get mine to meet Thai people locally since she's been here (she got here in September). She said she doesn't really care if she does or not, although she has met a friend at school who is Thai and is from Issan as well and has been here for two years. That girl can never hang out though because she's always working.

I myself haven't met any Thai people at my college, but I think even if I did she wouldn't be too interested in hanging out with them haha.

hey kang lang,

Long time no talk. How's your AOS process coming along? Good I hope!

hmmmm.... sigh.... I dont know what to say about this but I myself havnt made any new Thai friend since i moved here perminantly (apart from CJ&Jum) all of my Thai friends are those who was an aupair and met their husband here. And I dont really hang around Thai people much just cause - different interest and stuff.. but I wish I could make more Thai friends here too though. It's hard to find the one you 'click' coz there not many out there for you to meet. so yea, meeting Thai or not doesnt really matter.. only Thai food matters  especially when i got my co-worker to eat Thai food

In response the 2-3 week wait, that must be the new wait time. In our case, Packet 3 was sent in on the 7th, and we just received notification that my interview will be on the 21st. So yes, right at 2 weeks.

Good luck, Cheryl & Jim

My Packet 3 was sent on the 5th, received on the 6th, and my interview is tomorrow morning! Ack. If we hadn't taken so long gathering Packet 3 documents I can imagine this process would have moved so much faster after the NOA2.

My interview date is tomorrow. My honey can't make it to come until early March too. We thought that my interview will be later...so I will go to the embassy alone. I hope I will pass the interview.

Interview was so easy! My appointment was at 8 am, I was there at about 7.15 am, I got seen at half past eight and was out of there before 9 am! It never gets done that quickly. Usually I wait for hours and hours. I didn't have my birth certificate (I thought ID and house registration would be enough) so I need to drop that off tomorrow and hope to pick up the visa next Tuesday. Questions were easy: where did you meet, what happened, previous visits to the US, etc.

Did you bring the big brown envelope and the small white one given by the hospital to the embassy or just the 3 medical exam forms?

I am also wondering why I am asked again for some of the documents that I already sent as what was indicated in the packet 3...like the police and the foreign police clearance...I don't have the originals of them anymore just the copies

I don't think it matters, from what I have been told the petitioner can't go to the interview anyways. I was told you have to wait outside of the embassy, so they will be in there alone anyways.

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)
