There are a couple of pieces from my years in Bangkok that I would like for my fiancee to ship over before she emigrates.

Have any of you had successful experience moving furniture or other large items from Thailand to USA?

The pieces are probably a total weight and demensions of 50 kilo (110 lbs) and 1.5 meters (59") X 1 meter (39") X 0.5 (20"). If the cost were around 7,000 Baht ($200), I would not hesitate to do it. If it were significantly more, I would probably just keep the pieces at the in-laws house.

Thank you for any information or advice.

Pete

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but from my own research into this, the cost to ship was never worth it. I would have been better off buying new stuff. :)

congrats on your noa2! there is no hard and fast rule to get your interview date in our case our petition arrived in bangkok a little over a week later and it was about 2 months later that the interview was scheduled. a couple of things you can do is pre-emptively get all your packet 3 info ready, and send it in before you receive the request (we waited until our case had been in the embassy about a week to send it by ems to make sure it was in the system) then the packet 4 (interview letter is generated).

also check the timelines here it will give you some comparison to other cases similar to yours. GOOD LUCK!

Thai Mom...glad to hear you'll be in the U.S together shortly that's wonderful news enjoy!

Hello I hope this a good place to post I am not good at computers ?

Anyways I am in Thailand now with my Fiancee (Noo) I will be here until Dec 9th. we are still waiting for our packet 3. I downloaded what I think is most of it from a link I got on VJ. I am so lost about the whole process. We called the embassy & they are no help. We were told by a visa lawyer here it would be easy to finish the Visa for 800 dollars ? I am tempted to pay it ? But Noo says we can do it ourselves. So I guess my question is do we need to get the packet to get an interview ? We have a check list & are crossing things off fairly fast but they mention Instructions & I dont see any Hahaha Maybe I am seeing them & not knowing it. I think the visa people speak a language that no-one knows. Any info or direction will be greatly appreciated.

PS. does it seem possible for her to return to USA with me on Dec. 9th she is healthy & has no criminal record I make enough to support us & we have lots of proof of relationship too :P

Thank You All !

Congrats Raptorea, and that's good advice given to you by Kang Lang as well.

Unfortunately the attorney can't do anything for you in terms of speeding up the process of getting the interview date, etc. Great to hear you got your police/medical reports out of the way.

It took us about 3 months to get our interview date. Some people get it sooner, others get it later.

Max,

You DO NOT need to wait for the packet 3 to arrive. You can download all the required forms on the internet and then send them to the embassy. Once again, you do NOT need to wait for packet 3. This should save you lots of waiting time by doing it this way. Pretty much everyone does it this way, so it's a legit and great way to bypass part of the waiting.

You need the packet 3 to get an interview, however like I said, you do not need to wait for it, and I recommend you DO NOT wait for it.

There's no need to worry, etc.

What do you mean the lawyer told you you can finish the visa for 800.00??? I'm confused by this. Either way, whatever they mean is irrelevant as you don't need their help at all in this last part. Their scamming you and I would punch that lawyer in the face next time you see him.

Sorry to disappoint you, but having your fiance here by Dec. 9th is almost near impossible.

Good luck to you Max and Noo

sounds like the attorney is totally trying to scam you max, the packet 3 papers are the easiest don't pay one baht to that guy. follow the guides and ask here you can get very sound advice. UNLESS your case is somehow complicated there is no need for an attorney. if only i had known about vj before i filed for the k-1 i totally could have done it alone with these guides since our case was not complicated. told our attorney to ####### off and doing the aos solo (so far so good). best of luck to you!

update for you on our aos devpaik

hubby had his biometrics today, it only took about 15 minutes, they even let him preview his photo in case he didn't like it .

Question for all,

When the uscis sends the paperwork packet to the embassy in Thailand do they send all information that you first sent to the uscis? Specifcally I had to write a detailed letter how we met and what we did while I was in Thailand for two months is this letter sent to the embassy along with the photos etc..???

Now I am being asked by my attorney to write a new letter and have more pictures for the embassy in Thailand. for the interview.

thanks

raptorea01,

From my understanding, both you and your fiancee will be required to have updated letters of intent to marry dated from about this present time and addressed to the US Consulate in Bangkok.

You will also be required to send your fiancee additional proof of ongoing relationship, which may include more photos, telephone bills, stamped envelopes and correspondence, etc.

There would be no need for additional proof of having met within the last two years, as that has already been established during the initial adjudication of the I-129f.
