I am waiting for my fiancee's package to send off the I-129F. I have gathered proof of having met during the past two years, including visas, boarding passes, hotel recipes, photos, etc.

I have a question regarding proof of ongoing relationship. We have tons of Instant Messages from over years of conversing. About how many of these should I include? 5, 10, 30? Also, though there aren't any incriminating conversations, most of them are talking about boring everyday things. Is this appropriate for what they want?

Thanks for any feedback

Pete

ThaitoUSA,

Don't worry about what the conversations are about. They don't care about the topics you talk about, and there is no requirement you need to speak with your fiance about certain subjects picked by the USCIS :) .

Your conversations will be fine, as long as you aren't talking about planning attacks, killing people, or anything else outrageous like that.

Also, you COULD include them all, or you could include half, it's entirely up to you. I included EVERYTHING when I sent in the I-129f, but others discourage sending EVERYTHING.

Outstanding, amazing, and wonderful news George and Joom. Congrats to both of you. :)

Thanks roi aggie and Kang Lang.

So kang lang, you guys waited one year before applying for aos and ead? And you had no problems?

no we have had no problems our check was cashed on this past friday (we mailed our package on monday 29 sept. it arrived on wednesday, 1 october our anniversary), as roi aggie said it isn't recommended but it is not an automatic problem to do it later if you did indeed marry in the 90 day time frame. you do NOT have to have the aos started in the 90 day window. i spoke to a two immigration attorneys (we terminated our own) you can wait but of course during that time you are in limbo. also there a quite a few others on the K-1 visa who waited and have been approved no trouble here on vj you can maybe look them up and read their stories as well. i will definitely keep you posted on our progress since we filed so late. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks Kang Lang. I hope you guys have no problems whatsoever, but please do keep us updated on how everything is going with it.

Good luck!

Quick question,

On the I-129F and G-235A where it asks for the address of your fiancee, if she lives in Bangkok would I fill that out for both the "town or city" and the "state or province" boxes or just for one box? What do most people do? I'd hate to get a RFE because of something as minor as that.

Thanks

Hi! I've posted a couple of times here. I'm a woman living in Thailand with my Thai fiancee and our first (just born) girl. Woohoo! I've been going through the visa process for some time, and things got postponed when the little one came along first.

But now the paperwork is all together and our interview is scheduled for October 14th.

Here is the unbelievable part. I have the cover letter but I've lost the rest of Packet 4. (Call it newborn baby chaos) I'd organized all our paperwork already and I believe it's in the right order but I'm paranoid that I may have made mistakes.

Does anyone have a recent Packet 4 requirement list and order. If not, mai pen lai-- I can maybe go to the embassy and get another copy. But not only is that embarrassing, at this stage of the game (with a 6 week year old) it's a major hassle as well.

Could anyone please post the list? (I've already checked the embassy website-- they don't have it.)

Thank you!

Devkpaik, thanks for the reply. We probably have well over 500 conversations, so I might randomly pick a dozen or so just as examples.

She has mailed all the signed paperwork from her side in Thailand, and once it arrives, I'll be sending the I-129F. This feels slightly surreal, and of course I am so excited.

All the rest who are still in the process, all the best to you

Pete

My wife got packet 3 for the K-3 today. I want the IR-1. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with scheduling the K-3 interview at BKK and then trying to change the interview to IR-1 if the NVC case catches up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Sorry I can't answer that. You could always go through the process and see. I would tend to think they would let you do it, but then our last experience with Bangkok was positive. I'd email the embassy or talk to the visa info line in DC. For the latter you must wait on hold, but if you get the right person on the end of the line it's worth it:

For inquiries about visa cases and the application process call: 202-663-1225.

To e-mail the Visa Office for general information, write us at usvisa@state.gov .

My DIL's visa is a K-3, and I'm for sure not looking forward to dealing with the USCIS for months to come. Perhaps during the time she can't work, I can tutor her in the process and she can take it over.

My son's probably not looking forward to writing the check(s) either. Their I-130 never made it to the NVC.

I say go for the I-130.

Thanks. I've already decided to go for the I-130/IR-1. I was just hoping to speed it up. It does look like the IR-1 interviews are scheduled much quicker than the K-3, since the NVC schedules the IR-1 interviews. Unfortunately, my NVC process will not be quick now. Seems like my money order for the AOS got lost. NVC says they never got it, Attorney says they sent it. Tend to believe NVC at this point based on my past experience with the Attorney.
