Devk, somehow i missed your post, congrats on being reunited!!!!

Max & Noo welcome to vj and good luck!

Kang Lang,

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. She's pretty jet lagged right now. Not super bad, but definitely jet lagged for sure.

How are you guys doing?

a jet lag trick is swimming! i don't know why it helps but it does, my husband thought i was crazy but when I made him do it last year when he returned cut his jet lag down to about 2 days.

we are doing pretty good, think we finally got his medical sorted out, he's going today to get his tb skin test result and find out if his mmr anti-body test result is back hopefully, then we can just finally file for AOS fingers crossed.

Swimming huh? Sounds interesting. :) We're going to LA tomorrow to go to disneyland, etc., so I'll have her swim there haha. She seems to be doing better though, her first day she was real tired, then the next day and yesterday she's totally fine during the day but at night she's not tired haha.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys as well that everything turns out great, which I'm sure it will.

Good luck.

Where did she work 2 years ago? Any idea what about it may have set them off?

I know this was a big fear when my fiancee did hers, and she works in hair/nail salons, and hadn't been keeping track exactly where she'd worked and most are out of business.

Mine was going to school off and on, but also the only job she held was helping her mom who owned some properties and motorbikes on Phuket. She didn't provide any proof of this or evidence, and they didn't even ask her.

Wonder why it was such a big deal for Hilton. Hilton, did they say why?

It all stems from the fact that she was working at a massage shop a lagit one... she has cetificates and all and certified in facial massage and facials, no hanky panky... so I know where they are going with this, they're concerned / rulling out prostitution. and everything is subjective on the part of the interviewer. but this is what pisses me off. just because a girl works at a massage shop doesn't make them a prostitute, but this is what you have to deal with. I questioned her about putting down that she worked there because of this very reason but her response to me was "why should I lie I have done nothing wrong" so I said yea its better to tell the truth....but now I'm questioning that, you know you do your best to do the right thing by being honnest and it seems you get punished for it... I don't know. Whats youalls feelings on this I would like to hear espasally from the members that have been around for awhile have you heard or seen this happen before if so what was the out come??

well it started with when she was asked how many ladies worked there she told them the # and then he asked any men work there she replied yes the owner / boss and a driver.... why did they have a driver he asked... because the shop has no laundry and they have mak mak towels and uniforms that needs to be washed every day and the driver takes and picks up the laundry every day. oh ok he replied all this was on the first interview which led to the secound interview about 2 weeks later that lasted over 2 hour.......

I just wanted to update the list on the latest...... My fiance just received a call from the embassy, they told her to return to the embassy on friday and to bring all the proof of relationship documents back with her. So hear we go again. I wil keep everyone updated as things unfold .cross your fingers for us...thanks

Goodluck Hilton. My fiance was told they would contact her in three weeks which is coming up this Tuesday. Let me know what happens.

I just want to say thanks, and to give the list a further update... My Fiance was asked to return she was interview for over 2 hours... the main focus was where she worked over 2 years ago. she said they were very nice and polite about everything they had her write a statement about what she told them was true.. when the interview concluded they gave her the standard paper wth OTHER checked and administrative processing below that, gave her passport back and told her when they call her back in to bring that paper. They did not give a time line on when they would call her. so... thats the short and skeinney of it all to this point.... still in the holding pattern.

My Fiance had two interviews. THey kept her passport on the second one and told her they would contact her in three weeks. I intend on going to the embassy to talk to the consular. Bald man. It seems that he has done this with several candidates. I think a personal visit may help. I want them to understand how much I love my fiancee and to please grant her a Visa so we can start a new life. I too will keep you posted.

Hi, I am new to this web site. What does NOA and NVC mean? I just got back from Thailand a week ago and am starting the K1 process. I met my TG in July 2008 (e-mail & telephone) and met her in person during my two week trip (Aug - Sep 2008). Will immigration look negatively about the short relationship? I know it says you have to only meet one time in two years. I have pictures and kept my boarding passes for proof. She had applied for a student VISA and was denied in Aug 2008. Will they hold that against her? How long is the process? Thanks for any information.

Hello all,

I hope all of you can help me out a bit. My ‘now-wife’ came over on a fiancée K1 visa 1.5 years ago from Thailand. All is well and it has been a visa-journey dream come true! She has her 2 year greencard and will be filing to lift conditions around mid-2009. I/we have never been more happy!

Now we would like to bring her 14 year daughter over. Her daughter’s name was on my wife’s K1 application.

Considering that its been more than one year since the approval of my wife’s K1, I cannot use the ‘Follow-to-Join’ process. So, I downloaded the I-130 and completed it, with me filing for her as my stepdaughter.

It seems like a pretty easy process. I just send in the I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox, along with the supporting documents. Which supporting documents is the area where I have some specific questions. Here is what I’ve compiled for the package I plan to send, can you please comment?

1. I-130 with me petitioning my wife’s daughter as my stepdaughter.

2. Copy of my stepdaughter’s birth certificate (translated)

3. Copy of my stepdaughter’s passport

4. Copy of my prior divorce decree

5. Copy of my current marriage certificate to my stepdaughter’s mom (my wife!)

6. Copy of my passport/birth certificate and also the same for my wife.

7. Check made payable to USCIS for $355 (is that the correct amount?)

….and that is all I plan to send.

Also, am I correct to think that I do NOT need to send in the G-325A Biographical Information, or the I-134 Affidavit of Support? I realize that these forms may be required as a part of the Packet 3 information, but at this moment of initial filing, it is not required…correct?

Once the original I-130 packet is received, I believe we essentially just complete the same process as we did for my wife’s K1…wait for NOA1/NOA2/Packet 3/Packet 4/Medical/Interview/Visa received. I think it would take around a year or less…about the same time as it took for my wife’s K1. Once the visa is issued to my stepdaughter, and she enters the USA, she should receive her greencard in a month or two (No AOS…GOOD!<hahaha>.

Please provide me with any input you might have to help me start this process! I would sincerely appreciate it! And…congrats to everyone going through this process. Its rough, but it is so great to make it through it!

Peace to all!

I read the I-130 instructions the same as you. No G-325A required. Seems I filled them out for my stepchildren earlier this summer, but maybe for AOS since I filed their I-130, I-485, and EAD at the same time (wanted EAD for SSN; SSN needed to get tax rebate!).

With the immigrant visa, the process will be a little different in that you will follow the CR-1/IR-1 path at NVC. You won't do the I-134; they will need the I-864 when it gets to NVC. Check the guide on the CR-1/IR-1 for the differences with K1/K2.

And for NVC:

Best of luck!

It's a long process and one that I am not sucessful at yet. My fiance is waiting to hear from the embassy early next week. You can read my story if you click on my name. If your in a rush and don't want to make serious mistakes I advise using an attorney. If you not in a big rush then it's really not hard to do yourself. Here is the website with most of the information. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2994.html If she was married she'll need her divource decree and you will need yours. Many people here can help you. I do recommend one thing regardless of what anyone tells you. Go to the interview with her. Keep in touch and good luck. Right now the longest wait is the clearance from the uscis in California. Ous took 5 months to get approved. If you live closer to the east cost it will take you less as you will use Vermont. Good Luck. Please update your timeline. It will helps eveyone to have hope.

What is the notice of Action (NOA)? Does it mean you are approved? Why are there two NOA's?

1st NOA or NOA1 is the notice that they let you know they have recieved your case and your case is now in process.

2nd one or NOA2 is the notice to let you know that your case is approved and your case will be transfered to NVC and the embassy of USA where your fiancee resides. this is just a short note for you. i hope you get time to read and find out more about what you are doing.

good luck.

Thanks for the information. How do you sent the 129F package? Do you send it certified?

welcome los4! you should send it either fed ex/ups or usps express mail. some sort of service that offers a tracking number. you will want to know when it was received to help you figure out when your case will officially begin.

good luck!
