Hi All, Question probably been asked many times but I got my noa1 on June 15th and got a touch on July 8th. I would love to see my Thai fiance by xmas.

Is it possible to get approved and an interview done by mid dec? The waiting is driving me crazy. I pray everyday for a quick approval.

Thanks all

I don't want to discourage you at all, so I'm trying to think logically here. First of all, fill out your timeline, as I have no idea when you sent your I-129f petition to USCIS, nor do i know what service center you sent this to. This is all relevant information in determining about how long your process will take.

If you sent it in on June 1st, you may be looking at an October, november, or december NOA 2 date. OR if processing goes faster than what it is going at now, maybe you could get your NOA 2 in September. From the NOA2 you have to wait for it to be sent to NVC, then from NVC to the embassy, then you gotta deal with all the packet 3 stuff being sent in, then when that's sent in, you gotta wait for the interview date which could be scheduled anywhere from realistically 2-4 months just for an interview date. Sorry man but I really don't think it's possible that she'll be over here BEFORE December or IN December. I hope, of course, for your sake that she is. Hopefully you filed at CSC as VSC is taking longer to process now than CSC.

Hello, I was able to update my timeline and it shows maybe oct range for noa2 approval? My thai attorney has asked for my fiancee to come in early to get medical and police done before noa2 to stay a step ahead. Will this help speed thing up?

Thank you

It won't help make things quicker. It will save your fiance the time of getting it later. The thing is, when you finally get the NOA 2, there could be a week to a month before your papers get sent to the embassy, maybe even longer, then from there it could be ANOTHER three months until the interview date, so by that time (i forget how long the medical and police report is valid for) they could be expired.

Getting the medical and police report won't speed up the process, as she has plenty of time in between when she gets her NOA 2 to when she has her interview date, to get these things done.

raptorea, either you're misunderstanding something or I am.

You still haven't even received your NOA 2 and you're most likely 2-3 months away, maybe more, from receiving it.

You do NOT have an NVC number yet, and you won't until your petition packet reaches NVC.

What do you mean he will file all paperwork needed in the final process? What do you mean he will "ask" for an interview date from the embassy? No one can ASK the embassy for an interview date, they ASSIGN you one. And what do you mean about he will proceed without papers being sent to your fiance? Are you referring to packet 3? If so, yes he can find out what day your approved petition packet left NVC, and from there he can send out the packet 3 (which you guys can fill out in advance) to the embassy before your fiance even receives her packet 3. This can save possibly a month of waiting time.

I think you are very confused about this process and, like we said before, need to read the guides and do some research on the process. Either that, or I am very confused about what you are talking about.

Once again, I will reiterate, you cannot speed up the process, you can only save yourself time by doing some things you are able to do in advance. In terms of the process, you can't ask the embassy to hurry up and you can't ask USCIS to hurry up and you can't ask NVC to hurry up.

Hello, I think I am on the same page as you. I mean what I was told was that once a number is assigned from the nvc I can give that number to the attorney. Once I give that number to the attorney he will go ahead and have all the required paperwork needed done before she receives packet 3 and request an interview date from the embassy in Bangkok. I undersatnd I cant have the noa2 process sped up nor can have the interview date assigned sped up either. However if medical and police can be done along with information being submitted to the embassy before she receives packet 3 that can speed things up a little with out relying on snail mail etc and mistakes from the police dept etc... Do you agree?

an attorney CANNOT make anything go quicker....NOTHING will make the process go quicker except VSC getting off their a$$es. period...

I'm heading off to Thailand in 2 weeks and we're getting my wifes police report, but we'll have had our NOA1 for 4 months. The police report is good for 1 year after issuance. THis is what the US Embassy BKK says.

Yes, we'll save time later but its not going to make things go faster. If anything, an attorney slows things down. 1- they have no vested interest, 2- the gov't makes sure allthere t are crossed and i dotted when having to deal with attorneys so as not to get into a law suit.

Okay, thanks for CLEARLY stating what you meant. In your previous post, it was confusing trying to understand what you were saying.

Yes, it's a great idea to start to gather the Packet 3 information. Your lawyer should already have the forms for the packet 3 at his office, and he should be ready to fill out the forms and assemble the documents when he receives confirmation that your papers have left NVC.

He should know how to do this.

We did this for packet 3, and it saved us about a month of time because we didn't have to wait for the idiot working at the embassy to send out our packet 3.

For plane tickets try looking on the best travel store web site that were I hve been getting my tickets and they are about $200 to $300 cheaper. I just looked up the price for a ticket departing 23 sept and returning 6 OCT and the price was $1229.00 round trip including taxes and fee's

Hi

Im very frstrated and disappointed right now with a feeling of hopelessness!!! Our situation was the same as a previous post.. we were given our firt interview date for 04 AUG 2008 but that was cancelled and we were given a new date of 18 AUG 2008 at 0800. My fience arrived at 0700 and waited to be called, she was called to window #6 she said the interviewer asked all the normal questions ie when we met, were we met, how many time Ive been there to see her and if we were planning to get married. After the interview she was told and given an appointment to pick up her visa @ 3pm on 20rAUG2008. she went home finished packing and said her goodby's and returned to bangkok. When she arrived she waited for her name to be called she went to the window and a Thai man told her the Embassy would be in contact with her, they didn't say when or how long. I tried to contact them to findout more info to see if she should wait in Bangkok or go back home but had no luck I've emailed the visa unit and I;ve not heard back yet. Frustrated with the lack of communication I went to my congressmans office to see if the could findout anything for us. They called me today and said all the Embassy said was that the case was still in adminastrative review (what the heck does that mean) (and why would they tell her to come back on 20 AUG 2008 @3pm to pick up the visa if there were issues)So we have just been left hanging not knowing what to do or expect or how long its going to take!!! this is just CRUSHING, like my fieance said "its like they handed me a piece of candy and then took it away". any thoughts or comments would be grat. I need a shoulder!!

Damn, that royally sucks. I'd be outraged if it happened to me (and our timeline are identical in regards to the interview).

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice, but really hope it clears up quickly. I think just a few pages back someone mentioned it took 6 months to get through administrative review, and I know the BKK embassy is stingy with information and prefers to keep people in the dark rather than let them know what's going on and what they can expect.

For your email to the embassy, did you use the "magic" bkk2 address? I could never get a response from the address published on their site.
