Great outfit but yellow is not my color!!!!

Read the interview review, Roi Aggie. Good review. I'll send it to her to read. She has had experience with the embassy before and was not very

happy with them so I am hoping she will keep her cool and just answer the questions and get the visa and we can get out of there.

Actually, you should probably get a Thai to translate it. I'd hate for it to get lost. That's just my best guess.

Oh, what a temper she can have at a moment's notice!!! Wonder why so many Thai women have that temper. I am more tolerant in my old age..hahaha...and just tend to TRY to roll with the punches. But she has assured me she will not blow up at the interview if they start hassling her.

Funny story I found about both the temper, and the Thai Police:

"A warning. I had a regular tgf last year who like all of them was resisting my kiss goodby to her when i wanted to end our relationship. to cut a long story short she ended up putting a beer bottle through a tv screen and we where off to the monkey house(cop shop if you dont know). After talking with the room owner and police captain about paying the cost of tv, the nice little girl said to the cop,"he have picture of me, I want memory card from his camers". I am sure the cops eyes lit' up. well it ended up me being threatened with a court case accused of have indecent pictures in my possetion, or paying a "fine" of 80.000bt. I had to give the police my passport, ended up missing my flight and staying another month. Did you guys know, if the police make you stay over your visa time they will still fine you the overstay fine for every day.

So if you and g/f are happy, snap away, just dont fall out and end up in the monkey house like I did. wink.gif"

2 quick questions...

1) How did you guys get the SS card? I filled out that I wanted them to assign a SS# to her on the visa forms, but do we have to go to the SS office to get the card or do they just send it to her in the mail eventually?

2) Can she get a state ID while we are waiting to get married or does she need her green card first?

Thanks all!

Yes, it seems that when something like that happens they all want money. Easiest way is if you look like you are going to have a falling out, transfer the pics to a flash drive without her knowing or get them emailed and reformat the camera card. But like I said, I just try to roll with the mood shifts and when she goes off, just ignore her for awhile and she calms down. Sounds like we are stereotyping Thai women, but it's not just them that have tempers.

hey there steve & bualai,

it turns out that regardless of checking that box for an ssn you are very unlikely to have one assigned. just wait about 10-14 days after arrival and go to your local ssa office. my husband's ssn arrived 7 days after we applied. once you have the ssn you can get a state id in some states. we were able to in california it also arrived 7 days after we applied.

good luck!

Anyone know off the top of their head roughly how much a one-way ticket from BKK to the US costs? Preferably Seattle. My fiance is going to buy hers soon but wants to know what's the cheapest and right now I'm waiting on word back from my travel agent.

I don't expect someone to look it up for me haha, but just if anyone knows off the top of their head, it'd be muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch appreciated! :D

My understanding is that it is often cheaper to buy the ticket in Thailand, rather than buy it here. Expect to pay through the nose, airfare has gone crazy with the higher jet fuel prices. I still remember paying $800 for a round trip during high season, it was almost double that in July. I'm going to *guess* $850-1000 for a one way these days.
