regarding the recent postings about the police report from BKK.

Last week, while visiting my wife, I stopped in the BKK embassy to find out how long, from the issue date, was the police report excepted. They told me for 1 year from issuance.

The immigration officer gave me an information sheet, much like the one online but with a different address.

Short of talking to the owners of Thai restaurants... how would you suggest that I find places for her to be comfortable.

I'm lucky, I live in Southern California, with the world's largest population of Thai's outside Thailand. (Also has the world's largest concentration of Cambodians outside Cambodia)

For you, honestly, I'd do exactly what you mentioned. Go find some Thai people, and ask them. Restaurants are a good starting place, they'll be able to point you towards places where she can buy Thai foods locally, and might be able to give you advise on what (if any) temples hold Thai services.

Hi...

To All Thai Immigrants...

I'm really starting to freak out a bit. I'm so worried that my Thai fiancée will have a very hard time when she moves here. I live in Kansas City, MO and it's NOTHING LIKE Thailand and about 50 times smaller than Bangkok. There's not really any sort of Thai-town here and I know very few people (2) from anywhere near Thailand.

Short of talking to the owners of Thai restaurants... how would you suggest that I find places for her to be comfortable. "Community" is a big part of life in Thailand and maybe if I can meet some folks here I could even find her some work? Now that I think about it maybe talking to the restaurant owners isn't such a bad idea...

Khup khun ma krup

I thought about those things for my DIL. Most universities have some sort of international organization/club you could contact, but that doesn't guarantee any Thais will be there. Other people have talked about liberal use of phoning, Thai TV and online communities. My son is still holding out hope for his naval officer commission. There are likely to be some Thai spouses on naval bases of any size. He made friends with the owner of Thai restaurant a couple of years ago. They get a kick out of his Thai. My DIL is planning to work once she gets her EAD, which should help.

If they stay here in the good 'ole hometown, we'll invite her to join in with whatever the family and friends are doing.

We have a daughter her age, and they have already met, so that should help.

Do packet 4's tend to get lost or take time? The Embassy said it was shipped out on the 20th, but we still have not received it.

Might depend on where it is going. If it is Bangkok, should be pretty quick. If it is going up-country somewhere, who knows.

Shawndoc,

It depends, as sference said. Ours took about a week I believe, not including weekends. I think the embassy just sends it out through regular old slow mail, so I wouldn't worry just yet, you should be getting it soon.

Yea it's unbelievable how things work there huh? You would think that people would do the right thing, by returning something that doesn't belong to them. I guess helping one another out is too much to ask, and if there is no monetary reward for helping, well then screw it.

So since you didn't get it back, how did you get another paper?

Unreal how unorganized these idiots can be.

Littleasianman,

She just went to police station and asked if there was anyway she could get a copy, but they told her it was impossible as they had to be stamped by the head-honcho or someone. They guy she talked to said he would try his best to get her a new one faster. I can't remember the day that she was to have received the first certificate, but he said most likely they would have her another one on the 20th. I know she called him a few times, and she went to the station to pick the certificate up this time. From all she said the police really tried to help her out and work with her on this.

I will ask her some more specifics for you. Maybe she remembers the guys name who helped her out.

Alvin

Alvin,

Does your fiance remember the persons name at the police station who helped her?

We're still waiting on these stupid police and that dumb person to send my fiance's paper back.

My fiance was told last thursday to call this monday about the police report, and when she called today those morons still didn't have a clue when they'd get the paper.

They told her "well call you when we get the paper". It's like, cool so you will be calling us in one year when your dumb***** finally do your job and get the paper?

Aaaaah unreal how dumb some people are.

Birch-Beer: What is the "requesting letter from US embassy"? Is this the letter that is received from NVC after the case is processed there? Or is it something that comes in Packet 3 (or the downloadable version from the website)? Or something else?

If it's at all possible, would you be able to scan the document you received directly from the Embassy and post it on here? That would be really helpful since it seems to be an updated version compared to the one available on their website now. Thank you for the information!

The requesting letter, my understanding, is the proof of filing for the visa. The NOA1 is documentation that the visa was filed for. This is what I am using for the US document. NOA1 form I-130 and I-129f. There is no letter in the P-3 asking for the police report. If you go to the US embassy BKK website, you can download the P-3 yourself.

Littleasianman,

Sorry, I forgot to post her reply to my query. I had thought she had spoken to someone, but I guess maybe it was just normal questioning process. Unfortunately I don't think this info will be of much help to you.

Alvin

Alvin

Please tell him I didn’t do anything special. I just follow the procedure. And its very easy but it must take longer time

( normally 2 weeks)

Just go to there , and fill in the application form ( they have example how to fill on the table)

After that do finger hands print and take photo .the final step , police officer will ask a few question and

Give you appointment card . just check when will you can get cer. They will give phone number , you can

Call to check the status. It really nothing if you never do anything wrong criminal ,like that.

Hey pls have a look my presentation , I need your suggestion .IT for 5 mins presentation

I emailed the embassy to clarify the correct address for the K1 visa police certificate. I listed both the one on the downloadable form, and the one posted Birch Beer. The Embassy replied back to use the one on the packet 3.

Section 3, Sub-Division 2, General Staff Division

Special Branch, Royal Thai Police Department

Rama I Road

Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330

Isn't there a letter that comes with Packet 3 that the fiancee can use to go to the police headquarters ahead of Packet 4 so she can get things moving quicker? Seems that's all the proof they need is the fact they received Packet 3 to show a visa is in process. They don't get a copy of the NOA1 or 2 sent to them in Thailand.

Not trying to confuse matters, but I think they are both actually referring to the same address. "Royal Thai Police Department, Rama I Road,

Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330" is the same in both addresses, it's just the Building and Section numbers that are different and confusing. Probably just different ways to describe the same place, as there can often be little consistency in Thai postal addresses. As for the phone number, the one that Birch-Beer posted is correct. When we called the numbers on the Packet 3 sheet, they told us to call the numbers provided by Birch-Beer.

For some reason I can't edit my last post, but just to clarify on the phone numbers, when we called the number on the P3 sheet, they told us to call 02-205-2168 OR 02-205-2169, which are similar but not the same as the numbers posted by Birch-Beer. These numbers connected us to the right people.
