hi alvin,

so did they advise her she would be approved if she submitted the appropriate police cert doc? hope so.

good luck

Kang Lang,

No, they did not tell her either way.

Cheers,

Alvin

Alvin,

Your report sounds positive. Those are always encouraging, so thanks for sharing. I am hoping and praying that my DIL will be treated as well.

May you be together very soon!

Thai Family,

I hope this also. It worried me more that my fiancee would be treated bad more so than that she would not get the visa.

Cheers,

Alvin

First thing, my girl remailed the Packet 3 docs EMS on the 11th after the first packet did not arrive and they STILL have not arrived at the embassy and she mailed them in BKK again. What is wrong with their postal system??? Can anyone give me an idea how long their Packet 3 papers took to get to the embassy when mailed in Thailand? She called and checked with the tracking number and the embassy also emailed me and told me they had not received them. If they have not received them by the end of the week, I think I will have her use my FedEx number and send them that way.

As to littleasianman's email problems, I have emailed the embassy 3 times so far and they have responded very nicely to my emails to let me know the packet has not arrived yet. I don't know why you are having a problem with them. I just emailed them again this morning to make sure I can FedEx the papers if they don't receive them and to give them my girl's new cell phone number since she lost yet ANOTHER expensive phone.

When we sent our packet ems it only took 2 days to show up on the ems tracking system as delivered. the one thing is that i was not able to get the tracking through the english website but my husband got it through the thai website if that helps.

good luck!

Tom and wariya,

That's strange. Like I mentioned, I have emailed them about 17 times, all those times were successful and I received a response. However, the last three times I've emailed them it's getting the automated response.

I know I have the format down correctly, as it has always worked before.

As for packet 3, it took ours about four days to get there to the embassy, but the lawyer mailed it in for us.

Well, I found out this morning talking to Wariya on the phone that she THREW THE TRACKING number away so I can't check it. She had called her mom to see if anything had come to the home in Korat. Well, DUH!!!!!!!!!!, they don't mail out Packet 4 that fast!!! I guess I will have to have her do another Packet 3 and use my FedEx number and send it that way. Then I know I can track it for sure. At times I feel like strangling her!!!! Why in the heck would you throw the number away?? I wrote the embassy about sending FedEx and gave them her new cell number so I'll see what they answer in reply to doing that. I don't see why that would be a problem.

If it makes you feel any better, I have had the same problem with my lady in the past. Its just a culture thing, she isn't used to using the computer to track packages or keeping hold of receipts and out of habit she just threw it away. Luckily she did mange to keep it for our Packet 3. (arrived at the embassy on the 14th)

You're right, Shawn Doc. It must be a cultural thing. My DIL threw away her social security card from when she was here on a J 1 visa. We have had to communicate that -everything- related to this case must be saved until we're 100% sure it won't be needed in the future. It's not a bad idea to look at the citizenship requirements and see what is needed then.

Haha....doesn't make me feel better really. Now I have to keep asking the embassy if they got it and I don't really want to do that but I need to know since the first one never made it. She knows how important it is to save stuff because I drill it into her head everytime she goes to the doctor this year or signs up for yoga lessons to save the receipts for taxes this year after we are married. I don't know why she threw it out this particular time. Go figure!!!

How close is the embassy in Bangkok to a BTS stop?

I think Chong Nonsi might be the closest. You can take a taxi/motosai from there.

If you take the Skytrain to Ploenchit station and then walk down Wireless Road you'll get to the Embassy. I'm not sure exactly where the entrance for visa services is, but it is probably around a 10 minute walk from the BTS station.

How often is the Interview Schedule updated? The current date is June 11, 2008 for the PDF.

When do you think they will post the next update?

I tried to email the embassy to see if we had an interview scheduled and I just got the automated response back. Should I send another email to ask or just wait?

It would be nice to know about the date to plan for plane tickets, etc!

They post the updates once a month. You can either wait for packet four, or continue to try emailing the embassy.

Someone must be on vacation there this week, as I've gotten the automated response several times, and had another important question for which we need an answer.

Johnirish,

Yea it seems as though everyones been getting the embassys stupid automated response. And the thing is, we're all using the correct format required to send an email as well, which is the mind boggling part.
