Just a quick reply:

For Thai subbed movies, try:

http://www.ethaicd.com/list.php?catid=329

I have not actually ordered from them, but was given the URL by one of my Thai friends who studied in the US.

Also, we just got the Packet 3 in the mail today. No update on actually getting it completed unfortunately, but she was very excited to show me the envelope over the webcam.

Nope. Still waiting for her to send me the answers "tomorrow". Just as I have the last month or so. So that's the same. But she did seem excited about getting the official packet 3 from the embassy, so hopefully that's something.

She also let slip something about how she'd been worried about her mom (who is badly diabetic), but now her mom is better so she's not worrying about that. It just sorta came out, she then changed subjects and avoided talking about it. Maybe that's been the source of the delay, and now I'll see some progress.

Hi

I am helping my Thai Fiance' ... so far we have received NOA2 and are waiting to see when BBK gets the info to send out packet 3.

What can we do to speed up the process at this point? I do have several questions:

This is what I have done so far..

Filled out DS-230 for her

Collected proof of ongoing relationship

Letter from employer

I-134 affidavit of support and Letter from bank

Copy of my passport (just front page?)

Letter to confirm intent to marry

Copy of NOA2

I was going to express mail everything to her this week.

It looks like she still needs

Medical

Police Record

Her Birth Certificate

Photo's (two of them)

Am I missing anything?

Can I print out the medical form.. send it to her and let her get the medical now? She would have to travel to Bangkok since she lives in Ubonratchatani. Would she also get a police report in Bangkok or Ubon? Does she also need proof that she is single?

Is there anything else I am missing to help speed up this process?

thanks for the help!

John

Hey John,

First, there's NOTHING you can do to SPEED up the process, not sure if that's what you meant. Yea, it sucks haha because having the ability to speed up the process would be AMAZING. My fiance and I even have friends in the US embassy and they can't speed it up for us either.

what you are missing:

-Tax returns, w2's

-Her Tabian Baan (family book)

-It's also NOW required that everyone get a "single certificate" from what I have been told by my lawyer.

Can't think of anything else, but i'm spacing out right now, so if anyone else can think of things...

No, your fiance cannot get police report and medical in Ubon, she is required to go to Bangkok, everyone is because in terms of the hospital the embassy has specific hospitals they allow prospective immigrants to go to, and these are only in BKK. The police station in BKK is the one she needs to go to.

Once again, unfortunately there is nothing you can do to speed up the process, but there are things you can do to put yourself in a better situation to be speedy with sending needed documents in/being prepared for the interview.

Good luck, and if you have any more questions just ask!

One thing you can do is mail in your packet 3 after the embassy receives your paperwork from the NVC. Just print it from the website and mail it in. If she doesn't live in Bangkok it could be over a month before she receives the packet, and in some cases people never receive it.

Ou just got her visa approval, she has to go back to pick it up on Monday at 3 PM. I was hoping they would have it tomorrow........

She will take the train back to Surin tonight and then back to BKK one last time on Sunday and fly to LAX on Thursday.

She said the interview was really easy, no more than 3 questions. I'll have to wait till she gets here to write a up a review for the interview and POE.

Now, off to EvaAir.com to buy her ticket and do my vacation paperwork for work to turn in first thing tomorrow morning.

Yea, you're right. That will save a lot of time, forgot about that, yet I did exactly that haha.

Yea, just email the embassy and ask them if they have received your papers from NVC. Don't worry about bothering them via email, as I am on my 14th IV inquiry haha, I emailed them about 7 times for the interview date, and am now on the 14th email just by asking random questions.

As far as the police report, you can look here. I found this link at the Thai Consulate in Vancouver. I think you can do it all by Thai Post. This is the only place I've actually been able to find a phone number.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,

I like to post this reminder in the forum every once in awhile because it created a big headache for us. Before heading to the U.S., be sure you go to the fiance's amphur of birth and get an official birth certificate. You'll need it to adjust status. Also, if your fiance has had any name changes, get those official documents and have them all translated too. I had a very good translation experience with Anuchit Piewkham at info@thaienglish.com. Good luck on your journeys!

When I contacted the Embassy in Bangkok regarding my stepson's follow-to-join application, they told me they are currently scheduling interviews 12-16 weeks out after receiving the packet 3 checklist. My wife mailed it from Bangkok yesterday, should be there by the end of this week, will see when they actually schedule the interview.

hey ilayja,

just to give you an idea, we sent our packet 3 in on march 28th and they received it on the 1st of april i BELIEVE. We now have our interview scheduled for July 7th, so about 3 months after they received our packet 3 is when our interview date is.

First time I had to get onto the web in awhile. My stepson's interview is this coming Monday 2 June  ... that sure was not 12-16 weeks??? My wife has been so busy getting prepared  she is so excited.

My wife doesn't seem to have a birth certificate, although she has a Thai passport, Thai ID card, and a translated copy of the house registration (blue book.) I found this on the State Dept. website. I wonder if I'll have any issues with AOS? Thoughts?

"The issuance of birth certificates in Thailand began in Bangkok in 1917. Records of birth are often lacking for people born in Bangkok before World War II and for those born in other areas of the country up until the 1970s. Birth Certificates are issued by "Amphur," (geographic subdivision roughly equivalent to a county in the U.S.) district authorities having jurisdiction over the place of birth. There may be a fee for this service.

A Thai citizen older than 15 and born in Thailand, whose birth was not registered, must present in its stead a household registration, together with a Thai national identity card ("bat prachachon"), and may also be required to submit additional proof of the claimed relationship."

I am in exactly the same predicament. My fiancee went to ubon to get her birth certificate and they told her it was lost but gave her instead some type of affidavit. It was apparently good enough to get her K1 visa but I am worried about it sufficing for AOS. I won't get a chance to look at it until I am in BK next week.

Cheers,

H
