Well everyone Me and Nit survived the trip back and we are settling in now. She was excited on the first flight then quickly got bored with flying  By the time we got to Florida I am pretty sure she never wants to fly again. I got sick as a dog 2 day's after getting home and she got sick 2 days after me so its been a rough week. She is still sick I hate leaving her home to go to work but have no choice. Hopefully she will feel better this weekend and we can actually do something. I cant belive she is finally here....

Good luck to everyone!

congrats and welcome back!

vaccinations.pdf

hey so my fiance just went and got her damn medical done, and she said she paid 9000 f^^^^^^ baht. There was one shot 5,333 baht. The name of it is

Has anyone ever heard of this damn shot? She went with the lawyer and the lawyer said this shot is legit I guess. Damn that's annoying.

This is probably the HPV shot. New legislation pushed through by a texas senator on the take by Merck who claims this shot prevents cervical cancer. It is now required for femal immigrants between the ages of 16(?) - 26 years of age. HPV stands for human papiloma virus. sp? It is total bullshit as the efficacy has yet to be proven and some sever side effects have cropped up.

Hey thanks, yea youre right. Total bull sh**if you ask me too, they are basically using our fiances as their damn guinea pigs. That texas senator needs to be punched in the face, that's unreal. Expensive as hell too.

I hate to rain on your parade twice in one day but your fiancee only received one of three shots required. She will need to get the next one in eight weeks and the final one six months after the second. My "lawyer" didn't know anything about the HPV shot. Also I found out from the CDC website that your fiancee does not have to complete all three shots to enter the country but she will have to in order to adjust status. I assumed the vaccination would be cheaper at Bumrungrad so had my fiancee get her second shot there.

hey thanks haha. yea wait, so she got like three shots, but you're saying she has to get the SAME shot THREE TIMES total?! Whaaaat! Well, I mean it's not the cost that's an issue cuz she paid for it not me, but like that is RIDICULOUS.

Actually it's pretty standard for certain vaccinations to get a series of shots over a period of three to six months. For example, Hepatitis, Rabies, Japanese encephalitis... Try being a Peace Corps Volunteer here in Thailand. When I first arrived here they gave me about 15 shots in a period of less than six months! But luckily the HPV shot didn't exist then.

hey this is weird, so before i posted on here venting about the shot, i emailed the US embassy in BKK and asked them about it. I just got a response from them and they told me that this shot is NOT required by US immigration law.

I am very confused now

That doesn't surprise me a bit! I called the USCIS the day after my conversation with the doctor at Bumrungrad and they didn't have a clue what HPV vaccination was!! Check out this link, it confirmed what the doctor at Bumrungrad told me.

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the great info. We are just sitting back reading and waiting...checking this forum and the USCIS site for any news. Our NOA1 is March 31 nad touched April 23. We hope to hear something in June.

But I have a little question...Does anyone know of a web site that I can purchase western movies with Thai sub titles?

I saw one once but didn't book mark it and now I can't find it and I don't remember how I stumbled upon it in the first place.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks again

I usually buy my movies in thailand when I am there. The western movie is in English and has the option for Thai subtitles.

Well Lek's interview is coming up. It's this Tuesday!!!!

You may recall the ####### I went through with the Embassy when they refused to entertain moving her date from July 11th to sometime in May (where it should have been based on when they got Packet 3 back). Well they called her last week and... you guessed it. They've moved her interview from July 11th to May 27th. Imagine that... exactly the date I thought it should be back when I bought tickets and booked vacation time.

Amazing Thailand.

Anyone know what questions they've been asking lately?

Our Visa Journey

07/29/07 ---- Mailed I-129F

08/25/07 --- Check finally cashed (8/27 I should be able to see the R number on the back).

08/27/07 --- NOA1 Arrives from CSC and I create my account profile on the USCIS.Gov web-site (the clock starts)!!!

02/05/08 --- After 191 days NOA2 (Approval) comes at last!!!!

2/14/08 --- NVC sends letter saying that it's on the way to the US Embassy in Bangkok

2/25/08 --- She receives Packet 3 from the Embassy

3/29/08 --- She receives Packet 4 with interview date (July 11th).

3/30/08 --- I e-mail the Embassy asking to make the date earlier because I've already got our tickets for June 13th!!!

5/6/08 --- No help from the Embassy. Rebooked tickets and vacation till September.

5/21/08 --- Embassy calls her and moves interview to May 27th!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!

9/21/08 --- POE San Francisco!!!!

12/8/08 --- Married!!!!

12/15/08 --- Mail AOS + AP + EAD package to Chicago

Hi Jessica

It looks like we are in the same box, boat, file, desk or whatever.

Since we both have files heading to Thailand I wonder if there is a case worker that handles the Thai applications.

This is a long process and I have been occupying my mind with working on the house.

Now that the weather has finally started to warm up here in PA I have much to do outside.

Lots of busy work.

I did find this site for movies with Thai subtitles and it looks promising.

Anyway thanks for the reply and maybe we will hear something soon

Wow! What great news and what a relief (financially and emotionally)!

You did well...when I asked to move up my now-wife's interview, I was flat out told no! <haha> That ended up costing me a couple extra thousand bucks, because I was in Thailand when I asked for her 'moved up' interview...and she could have gone back to the states with me when I left. As it turned out...I had to return to the USoA and then come back to her interview only about 3-4 weeks later!

Ok...Ok...if the truth be known...I wasn't that disappointed that they said no to moving up my now-wife's interview...because it gave me another excuse to go back to Thailand! <haha>

Peace to all!

Hey you guys; I find the website is very useful. I am an affiliate member with the website. I have ordered many thai music and videos from them for many years now. The prices are really reasonable. The owner runs his business in New York. He orders it from Thailand and have it shipped to anywhere in the world.

Ou's interview is Thursday, finally. Shen went back to BKK for a few more shots a few weeks ago and they said she had to get her second HPV shot, I told her not to get it, we'll get it taken care of here.

Below is the e-mail I sent to the Embassy and the response:

Dear SqdnGuns

No, the shot for cervical cancer is not required for immigration purpose.

Greetings,

My fiancée is at Bumrungrad Hospital for her physical right now.

They are telling her that she needs the shot for cervical cancer since she is under 26 years old and it will cost 12,000 baht. Is this true? Nowhere on the paperwork for her medical and on the embassy web site it states that this shot is required?

I need clarification on this before I pay 12,000 baht for a shot that not even required here in the states.

Best Regards,

SqdnGuns

I have been checkling flights from BKK > LAX and was suprised at the cost.

To fly her on Eva Air on June 5th, one stop in Taipeh for a few hours, it's only $640 USD. On Thai Air, direct flight it's $1,000. I am debating on which one, I like the idea of her flying direct but she wants me to save the $ to spoil her when she gets here.....LOL.....I'll spoil her anyways.

Mid June we will be moving to a new home in Huntington Beach, she will love it!!

Hey tingtongfarang,

Yep the STUPID worthless HPV shot, I emailed my lawyer about that, here is his response on the worthless HPV shot.

Dear Mr. ,

This stuff can seem very confusing, even to me sometimes. Basically you

have gotten caught in the middle of an internal policy change. Even

though

the laws on the books virtually always remain constant, the State

Department and the Embassy here in Bangkok have wide latitude in how

they

enforce those laws. Therefore when they told you that this vaccine was

not

required they weren't lying because at that time it wasn't policy. Now

that they have changed their policy it is required. It is very

frustrating

to deal with, for me as well because I have to explain these things to

the

clients, but there isn't much we can do aboout it. I appreciate your

patience with this process especially when they spring something like

this

on you which is fairly unreasonable.

Best Regards,

Basically these idiots in the govt. have changed the laws and made this mandatory. Because I emailed the US embassy as well and they told me it's NOT required, so I'm thinking, ok then why in the hell was she told it is required!!! Ah, very annoying.

Well let us know what the embassy's response is to that will ya?thanks. and thats amaizing she has her interview this thursday! GOOD LUCK!!!
