Thanks guys. So basiclly we have our interview date and everything. It's scheduled for July 7th. We didn't wait for our packet 3 we just waited till we knew the embassy had our papers from nvc then we sent in packet 3 because our lawyers had all the documents anyways. the embassy said they sent out packet 3 over a month ago. we don't need packet 3 because it's already been sent in and we have the interview date already but is there ANYTHING in packet 3 we need to take to the interview?

also we still havent received packet 4 and the embassy said they sent that like april 28th or 29th. does it ususally take this long?

I have seen lots of questions recently concerning the amount of time it is taking the Bangkok Embassy to schedule appointments. Just out of curiousity (and boredom), I took a quick look at the data on their current schedule (downloaded the data from http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/ivschedule050708.pdf then manipulated it in an excel spreadsheet). Based on the data:

a) It would appear that 13 to 14 interviews per day is an average number. (When I looked at the schedule a year ago at the time Rin's packet 3 was submitted, they were scheduling 16 to 18 interviews per day).

B) Beyond May, they do not have any "7:30" interviews scheduled.

c) Substantial "open time" remains in June and July. So either they have substantially reduced the interview slots per day (holidays, vacations, etc); or they hold spots for tourist visas, emergencies, expedites, etc.

Also, when I sorted the data by BNK number, no particular trend stood out (i.e. earlier BNK numbers did not correspond - or even trend - towards earlier interview dates).

Would be interesting to know what formula/criteria they use for setting their interview schedule. It would definitely help future applicants plan their travel to Thailand to attend their SO's interview.

When I contacted the Embassy in Bangkok regarding my stepson's follow-to-join application, they told me they are currently scheduling interviews 12-16 weeks out after receiving the packet 3 checklist. My wife mailed it from Bangkok yesterday, should be there by the end of this week, will see when they actually schedule the interview.

hey ilayja,

just to give you an idea, we sent our packet 3 in on march 28th and they received it on the 1st of april i BELIEVE. We now have our interview scheduled for July 7th, so about 3 months after they received our packet 3 is when our interview date is.

Hi,

Congrats to those who passed the interview!!!!!!

My interview schedule is on June 23 8am. While checking our papers me and my fiance(e) found some wrong dates on F129. Could you guys advice us what is the best thing to do? Darryl scanned his passport and he already sent the date stamp to my e-mail. Also, my visa and work permit in Thailand will expire on May 31. I'm just wondering if am I going to have any problem in the interview if I will not renew my work permit and just extend my visa? I don't want to sign our school contract because I will be leaving soon to be with my love(by Gods help).

Sorry if i kept asking. I emailed the embassy but they did not reply to our question.Thank you in advance.

Daryl and Tere,

I don't understand your question at all. what do you mean your I-129f had the wrong dates on it? Wrong dates of what? Also, sometimes the embassy won't respond to the first email, so you need to number what email it is. for instance, if it's the 2nd email you've sent, say "2nd IV and include name of beneficiary and BNK number".

I am also confused. Are you the beneficiary or the petitioner? Why would you have a problem with the visa if you do not renew your work permit and extend your visa?? Are you already in the US? Are you on a work visa? What are you talking about a school contract?

I am so confused and have NO idea what you are talking about haha sorry! :bonk::)

Hello Thai-peeps...

I am still unsure about the DS230 part I...

After looking on the VJ guide to the US embassy in Bangkok, for items sent back to the consulate, it mentions the DS230 part I, but says to send it unsigned.

Yet, elsewhere I have seen posts that say YES, you do sign page 2 of the DS230 to send back to the consulate.

Which one is it?

thank you

We sent Rin's signed. Part 2 is supposed to be signed and witnessed at the embassy. Signed or unsigned, they will correct it at the interview (I saw another instance where a fiancee was at the embassy with the DS230 part 2 already signed - They had her sign it a second time). I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Littleasianman,

Thank you for the reply. Sorry my English is not good and I made u confused and laugh. This is Theresa from Philippines (beneficiary) wrong dates in I-129f (in number 18 on describing the circumstances under which you met...) and in his letter of declaration of continuing relationship..."we have different dates on the first time we met."

I am living and working here in Thailand for 4 years. My visa and work permit in Thailand will expire on May 31. I'm just wondering if I am going to have any problem in my interview at US embassy bangkok if I will not renew my work permit (resign to my school where i work now) and just extend my visa to be present on June 23 interview?

Sorry again for the confusion, I'm stressed out, nervous and excited........ I can't wait to be with Darryl (my fiance).

DS230 Part I should be completed and signed by the applicant. Part II is to be brought to the embassy completed but not signed as there is a sworn oath that must be administered by the officer before it is signed by the applicant. Here is a link to the embassy form and instructions page which may help clarify some of your concerns, also don't be afraid to email and ask the embassy any questions you have about the forms and procedures, they helped me with a couple things I couldn't get clear answers on here. Here's the link... http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_vis...structions.html

Good luck to you! 7 more weeks til Tua and I are reunited permanently!!!!

Theresa,

Oh I'm sorry! i didn't mean for it to sound like I didn't understand your english. I just meant I didn't understand your situation your english was great. I wasn't laughing at you either about that, I was just a bit confused.

Okay now I understand, you have different days of when you met. Umm... not 100% sure but I don't see why there'd be a problem if you just simply extended the visa. I am sure they would understand the reason for doing this, and that there really would be NO need to renew your work permit again and pay all that money to do so.

Once again, sorry if you thought I was laughing at you, if you have seen any of my other posts you will notice I always say "haha" just to be more friendly or whatever haha.

See, did it again there. Anyways, yea good luck at your interview as well!

And yes, I understand your excitement, nervousness and being stressed out. Your interview is very soon. Ours is July 7th, and I'm already NERVOUS and I'm not even interviewing haha!

Hey guys, it looks like I may be calling off the K1 visa. We're at the packet 3 stage and my lady appears to be having cold feet. I'm having a heck of time understanding what's going on, everything was great up until I told her the petition was approved and I needed some more info so we could submit the packet 3 and schedule her interview. She'd already gotten her vaccinations in advance, and had been asking me all sorts of questions about coming to the US. I'm now getting hit with the typical Thai "face saving" situation where she keeps promising to email me the information "tomorrow" or "by Friday" and then doesn't. This has gone on for the past 3 weeks or so, and now she's having "phone problems".

I'm not sure what else to do. I'd thought about having one of my Thai friends go visit her at the salon and see if they could help interpret whats going on for me (What's the cause of the cold feet; worries about leaving her mom, fear of leaving her only home, another man?). However I've only two other Thai friends, one is in the UK on business for the next 5 months, and the other one is in Prae and can't make the long trip to Patong in Phuket. My friend is Prae has declined calling her on the grounds that she needs to see my girl in person when talking to read the "signs" that Thai's need to decipher when she is being open and when she is saving face.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm deeply hurt by this and need a place to vent. Everyone in my home life thinks I'm crazy for falling in love with a Thai girl, and venting to them will just get me a bunch of "I told you so" comments.
