Thanks all.

Thee_rak, I definitely feel for you guys. I can't imagine not seeing my fiancee for over a year. We talk by phone twice daily (thank you Skype!) when I'm back in the states, but that leaves a lot to be desired. Every trip back to Thailand feels like starting a new honeymoon. My fiancee says that she hopes we can keep everything fresh and exciting when we are together 100% of the time. I think that is a challenge every couple faces, even if they don't have to go through this immigration stuff. Best of luck and hope all works out for you.

Thanks... I do hope you understand that I'm happy for you and am in no way angry with you. This has nothing what-so-ever to do with you personally.

It'll be nearly 21 months when I go over on 29-Aug. We're going to spend some time with her family in At-Samat (not far from Roi-Et) and then spend some time on the beach (a few places) b/4 coming back on 21 Sept. We'll have some vacation in San Francisco (POE) then maybe Vegas for a few days b/4 coming to Kansas City where I live now.

With luck by the end of the year I'll be taking on a new assignement at work and need to go to Mexico for about a year. I guess my next step is to figure out how to manage that with her going through the AOS process. Guess I need to dive into the Advance Parole process and also what it takes to get her a tourist Visa to Mexico

Also, this is weird but i was checking out the updated interview schedule and they have our BNK listed TWICE with the interview listed consecutively one after another. Could this be a typo? That's weird/annoying haha.

Does she have a child? They listed Rin's four times on the schedule; once for her, three for the children.

Hey no she doesn't.

Hmmm...thought in a previous post you indicated she had a child.

Even if the child is not coming to the US, the embassy may have her listed for an interview if she was listed on the 129F. We clearly indicated last April that only Rin would be getting her visa and the children would "follow-to-join". Rin's BNK number was still on the interview list four times last April. When we went to the embassy, they asked if the children were with us, told them no that they would "follow-to-join". No problem. The downside was that they took up three slots that went "unfilled" that day.

Yeah, that appears to be the case, we have 3 slots taken up and she has 2 children who will "follow to join"... so I'm guessing if you have anyone listed on the application that they put them in just in case they will join now perhaps.

hey sorry didn't read your post correctly thought you asked if she had a child coming to the US. No she doesnt. but why would they have an interview slot for her if we clearly indicated she wasnt coming? Weird

Hi,

Congrats to those who passed the interview!!!!!!

My interview schedule is on June 23 8am. While checking our papers me and my fiance(e) found some wrong dates on F129. Could you guys advice us what is the best thing to do? Darryl scanned his passport and he already sent the date stamp to my e-mail. Also, my visa and work permit in Thailand will expire on May 31. I'm just wondering if am I going to have any problem in the interview if I will not renew my work permit and just extend my visa? I don't want to sign our school contract because I will be leaving soon to be with my love(by Gods help).

Thank you in advance.

Theresa

Greetings to all fellow Thai VJers,

Does anyone know if sensitive documents can be sent directly to the Bangkok Embassy in support of a pending case, provided the case number is clearly identified?

Our daughter-in-law's snail mail gets opened before she receives it. They told her in Hua Hin that there were no P.O. boxes available. We're hesitant to send the I-134s to an insecure address, as we've already been victims of identity theft, and definitely don't want to risk a repeat of that scenario. I'm hoping they'll accept the I-134s and supporting documents directly from my son and us. Everything that possibly can be will be e-mailed to our DIL. If our son is eventually able to hand carry documents and be present for her interview, that would be great. At this point that is an unknown factor.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to send a package to Hua Hin by DHL and have them call her when it arrives so she can pick it up from them? Does the embassy give good information when you phone them? We're concerned about her eventually getting her appointment letter, too. We're even hesitant to mail original copies of proof of ongoing relationship, for fear they'll never reach her and be forever lost. Our son had trouble getting some of his mail while he was a student in Thailand - specifically, replacement credit and ATM cards. Fortunately his bank was quite helpful. Has anyone else had this problem in Thailand? We would send everything to her family down south, but that is not very practical, as it's a long distance to travel.

Getting closer - and hope all of you are too! The kids are excited even though they have several more months to go before they can be reunited.

Thanks in advance.

Thankful to be a Mom to a very special Thai daughter

I don't know about DHL, but Fedex can do it. I'd check their websites or just call them. Another option would be a place of business. I spent a few weeks in Bangkok last year and had a friend send docs to me at the hotel (Marriott). No problem receiving them there. So if your DIL has a place of business or a friend with a business address, that might also be an option.

I do not believe the embassy will accept docs related to a case and try to "match" them up with the other documents received when your DIL goes for her interview.

Best of luck!

John

Thanks very much John. That helps a lot to know that businesses are more secure. Our DIL just mentioned that sending things to her former employer's address would be okay. Our son was unsure, as some of his mail that went missing was sent to his Webster University address in Hua Hin/Cha am.

We need to get a package off to her this week and I feel much better about it now.

Thanks!

I have sent papers to Thailand via DHL. I sent them to a local DHL office in Bangkok, they had my wife's phone number on the label. DHL called her when it arrived and she went and picked it up with no problems. The US Embassy will only accept supporting documents in person.

Hey guys,

Finally got off my lazy butt and sent the NVC letter so my fiance can get her police report. Also she's gonna get her medical report soon as well.

Does anyone know what hospital out of the embassy approved hospitals is the cheapest?

Thanks, and how much did your fiance end up paying?

I appreciate very much you sharing your experience. That gives us more concrete options and peace of mind.

What would we do without VJ??? Thanks to those who make it possible.

Kindest regards,

Thai Mom

hey there,

when my husband did it last year there were i think only 2 places in bkk, bumrungrad and a senior center. bumrungrad was a wee bit cheaper like 250 baht or so. but i have been reading here that some of the ladies here have had some "extra fees" come up. we had a great experience. i just made all the appts. online and even chose the doctor. good luck to you!

My Fiancee did all of her vaccinations at the hospital, about 3,000 baht. I had her bring the sheet that you can print off of the embassy website here http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/medical_forms.pdf for the medical instructions... this apparently came in the packet 4, which is confusing since the checklist says it has to be done before sending in Packet 3, but whatever, we got it done ahead at least I guess. We used Dr. Watcharaphong Sae-Chere. Got everything including vaccinations done for that price. Get her over to the police station asap to get that clearance certificate, we had to wait a month to get ours in the mail after going, she went first week of April, just got it in the mail last week. I just scanned and emailed the letter from the NVC and she printed it and took it in with her. I also printed the page on the embassy website that says the certificate is free so she wouldn't get charged by a money hungry cop. All she had to pay was a processing free around 150 baht which I hear is normal.
