We got our email from the embassy today saying our date is for July 16th 8am!!!!!!!!!!! That's gonna be 10 months since we last saw eachother and a lot longer than I expected this process to take, but it's better a little late than never I say. Just glad that light at the end of the tunnel is finally shining! I'll be flying out on the 11th til the 28th to go to the interview with her and we'll fly back here together. Anyone know the answer to this, if our destination is Chicago, but we layover in New York... which will we have to do POE interview at? My guess would be Chicago, but just curious if anyone out there has gone through this and knows for sure. So if any of you have been waiting long after sending in your Packet 3, just email the embassy every week once or twice til you get the answer you want. They said they sent out Packet 4 on the 29th of April which just contains her interview appointment letter for those of you who were wondering what Packet 4 is. Still don't understand why the appointment sheet on the website isn't updated, it's been over a month now. Also still waiting for that police clearance certificate to show up in the mail, should be any day now since they said it would mail out on the 1st of May. Good luck to us all!!!!

HEY CONGRATS HUGE316!!!!!

Yea, when i read my email from the embassy I like jumped in the air and started freaking out haha! Such great news. Let's hope everything goes smoothly for the both of us and there are no problems getting the visa. Well lets hope for everyone rather.

Yea, ten months is a long time but you guys are gonna be there soon.

Unfortunately I dont know the answer, but I PERSONALLY assume it's gonna be JFK because she's flying into that airport and has to go through immigrtation there, but I have NO idea sorry.

Yea about emailing the embassy, I emailed them more than once a week. i emailed them, waited for their response, then sent an email out like a day aftyer, so I was sending about four emails a week haha. finally they gave me the answer i was looking for.

Yea, they said they sent out the packet 4 on the 29th as well. Has she gotten it yet?

Shoot we havent gotten the police clearance or the medical yet... should get on that soon!

It will most likely be NY. The normal thing is for the NYC to Chicago flight to be a domestic flight. If you have the flight number for that segment you can look up and see if it is a domestic flight or not.

If it is JFK, I believe that is the one magic POE that will give her a work stamp if she asks for it.

Interview Date Notice Received!

I was totally blown away! The embassy received our Packet 3 documents on March 25. We hadn't heard anything and based on everyone else's timeline (plus the fact that they were already assigning June interview dates on the April 2 appointment list posted on the Bangkok embassy website, and it's now a month later!) we assumed our interview date was going to be late June at the earliest, more likely July. NOPE! Our interview date is May 28!!!!

I'm not sure why we lucked out and got our interview after 8 weeks, when everyone right now seems to be getting interviews at 12-15 weeks, but I'm not complaining. I also feel a bit guilty because I know many of you have not seen your Thai spouse for many months, while I get over to Thailand every 4-6 weeks because of my work (just returned a couple weeks ago). Nonetheless, very excited that it is happening so soon!!!

Congrats Sojourner! If I understand the process correctly, then I think the reason your interview was granted so much earlier than the other folks who just got interview dates is because your NOA2 date was much earlier than theirs. Once all the paperwork gets back to the Embassy, those cases with the earliest NOA2 dates *should* get priority when interviews are scheduled.

We're still just waiting for the NOA2!! But I like to keep up on this thread to see how everyone else's timelines are going to help judge when we might get our interview scheduled... So, thanks everybody for posting your updates and keeping timelines updated, cuz it helps give the rest of us an idea of what's going on!!! :)

This is freakin' NUTS!!!

She sent Packet 3 in the first of March and we got our interview letter on March 29th. Our interview at that time was booked for July 11th.

I had estimated our time and booked tickets and vacation time sure that I had left enough time in case it took longer and still our interview date was set 6 weeks AFTER our tickets. I e-mailed and begged (I mean really begged) them to change it to support our tickets and NOTHING. I got one response that said they normally don't do that but that he would pass my request on to the officer.... NOTHING. Not so much as a "sorry but NO". Just NOTHING.

If I'd gotten your interview date I wouldn't have had to change my vacation time to September and I would have been with her nearly 4 months sooner. As it is now I've not seen here since January 3rd 2007. Oh and i wouldn't have had to pay change fees of nearly $400usd to change our tickets.

Hey Theerak,

Yea, you and I have about the same interview date (ours is July 7th) but if you look at soujourners timeline, by the time they have their interview they'll have been waiting almost ONE YEAR, so it makes sense as to why his interview is sooner. for us, by the time we have the interview date (july 7th) we will only have been waiting 7 months, so about 4 1/2 months shorter than his wait. I think the embassy maybe factors in how long ago they got their NOA 2 as well maybe?

So you had to change your flight, etc.? Jeez, expensive fees.
