Strange my girls case number is listed 3 times in a row on their appointment list wonder why?

She have children? Or would children be assigned a seperate case #? I'm reaching here............

That was the case with Rin. The children had the same case number. Even though her children were "follow to join", the embassy had appointments for them last April when Rin went for her interview. When we got there we told them the children would interview later. Not a problem.

Last year my fiancee (now wife) came with the K-1 visa. Now we want to bring her daughters with the K-2. The embassy indicated that I will have to fill out a new I-134 affidavid of support for each daughter.

What do I write in the box where it asks "what specific support I intend to provide" for her? For my wife I wrote "for the duration of the marriage" What do I put for a child? Has anyone done this before?

Thank's, Helmut

Just to give everyone a heads up on the police clearance certificate... my Fiancee just went to the police station in Bangkok and they said they are backlogged and that they won't be mailing any paperwork until the 28th of April, which will take about 3 days to arrive in the mail for anyone. So I guess this means no April interviews for any of us who have sent in Packet 3 recently. :(

But at least her medical is done, 3,300 baht for everything... and the police papers will be in the mail in a couple of weeks. So now we just wait for Packet 4 and our interview date...

On the Bangkok embassy page here at VJ, someone has added this:

Translation service can also provide Police report for 2000 Baht. many translation services are near the US Embassy. The Police station takes over 2 weeks to process. Too Long.

Has anyone heard of getting your police report from a translation service instead of the police station? Seems bogus, and I'm inclined to remove it, but figured I'd check first.

Well after 3 e-mails I finally got a response from the Embassy in BKK...

Dear Mr. Jeff:

Thank you for your email. We have referred your case to the responsible visa officer to request for an earlier interview appointment date. However, we cannot guarantee that your case will have an earlier appointment. Due to the large volume of immigrant and fiancé visa applicants, the interview appointments are now in July already. Normally, the IV Unit can schedule expedited interview appointments for only some emergency cases such as the case that the petitioner is deployed to the Middle East or the applicant is pregnant of has medical emergency.

We will let you know if we can provide you an earlier interview appointment.

Regards,

Correspondence Unit

I've got a problem and need some help.... she got Packet 4 today and her interview is set for July 11th. That would be good news except that, as you might be able to guess, I've alrealy booked a months vacation from work and our return flight tickets into the US for JUNE 13th

How can I communicate with the Embassy and request her interview date be pulled ahead to the first business day after I arrive in BKK (May 26th)? She has already had the medical (I sent her the forms with my I134 stuff).

Also, I've been reading here about this single certificate.... can she get that in BKK or does she have to go to her hometown for it? I saw it was listed on the checklist but didn't understand how she gets one. I think that's the only thing we don't have ready to go right now.

I really don't understand this at all.... why would the Police Certificate need to be translated? It's already in English. This still begs the question of the "single certificate". It's going to be a letter in Thai so does it need to be translated into English DESPITE what it says in the checklist that documents NOT in English OR Thai need to be translated???

Has anyone had the interview and had an officer tell them that they need to have the single certificate in ENGLISH?

Hey Thee_Rak, I read that as the nearby translation services are making a quick buck "generating" a police report for you, as the person who added it to the Embassy info page was complaining about how long the police department takes to make it, so suggesting you pay the translation service to make one. Figured it was some sort of scam/counterfeit documented, but wanted to check here first to make sure they didn't have some sort of "expedited" service that was legit. I'm going to delete it from the Embassy page.

Also, the Packet 3 sheet explicitly says the only documents that need to be translated are those that are not in either English or Thai.

I Know...

Has anyone who has gone through the interview EVER had an officer tell them that a document in Thai needed to be translated into English? This is Thailand we're talking about after all... they are not exactly known for consistant application of law/rule/policy etc. I realize (and have all along) that the Packet 3 stuff says that English & Thai are fine anything else needs to be translated.

Get them translated, you will need the translated documents when you file AOS.

Any document you have in Thai, birth cert, education records, etc.....get them done while your there.

Although it's been 3 years since we went through this, I recommend that you get all of the Thai documents translated into English. Make sure you get multiple, certified copies of the translations. You may need them later on when you get back to the US. As recommended, get the translations done in Thailand. It is much cheaper.
