I've got a problem and need some help.... she got Packet 4 today and her interview is set for July 11th. That would be good news except that, as you might be able to guess, I've alrealy booked a months vacation from work and our return flight tickets into the US for JUNE 13th

How can I communicate with the Embassy and request her interview date be pulled ahead to the first business day after I arrive in BKK (May 26th)? She has already had the medical (I sent her the forms with my I134 stuff).

Also, I've been reading here about this single certificate.... can she get that in BKK or does she have to go to her hometown for it? I saw it was listed on the checklist but didn't understand how she gets one. I think that's the only thing we don't have ready to go right now.

Our Visa Journey

Thee Rak,

I believe that she has to get it in her hometown, although don't quote me on that.

So she just got her packet 4 and the interview is scheduled for JULY 11? WOW... are they REALLY freakin' slow right now or what???!!!

I was hoping that my fiance would have he interview sometime in June, and that's with the embassy hopefully receiving our petition from the NVC this Monday (tomorrow).

In terms of communicating to them your desire to schedule an interview sooner, I am not quite sure how one goes about doing that, or if they can even do that as well, otherwise I am sure everyone would be doing that to have their interview sooner... who knows though I'm not sure about that one sorry, hoipefully someone else has an answer for you.

Shawndoc, has the NVC received your petition yet?

As of Friday night, they had not.

Shawndoc,

Then don't worry, you have plenty of time to get your papers collected, organized, etc.

The NVC JUST sent out our papers to the embassy on March 26th, and that was after 16 days of waiting for the NVC to be finished with/process the papers. Just have your fiance go and get the singles paper, and everything will be good!!

Good luck

Hey littleasianman7,

It was only frustrating because it took so long! It was like my K1 dropped into a black hole during that time. I had always heard that things started to move much quicker once you got the NA02...so I thought I would pass through the NVC and on to the Thai Consulate quite quickly. However...it just slowly moved along, which was frustrating because there was no processing happening during that time...it was just sitting on a loading dock waiting to be shipped Plus, I was anxious.

However, it sounds like you made it from the NA02-NVC-Thai consulate in only 2 weeks and two days...so you're in good shape...nothing to worry about!

Once I had confirmed via email to the Thai consulate that they had received my packet from the NVC, I made up for some time by downloading the Packet 3 documents from the website and sending them in. That saved me about 3 weeks of wait time, and worked fine.

Peace!

MarkNAam

Hey MarkNAam,

Thanks for the info! Yea, I would have to say that this WHOLE process is frustrating!! I also know what you mean about being anxious haha!

Well, Thee Rak JUST got his packet 4 and his interview is scheduled for July 11th. Damn, are they slow or what?

Yea, I actually have a lawyer, and the sad thing is I feel like everyone on here/I know more than he does at times. Who knows, but just an update:

I just spent the last three months in TH with my fiance, and while I was there, we got together with the lawyer, had him print off all the paperwork that was required to send in with packet 3, and we had her sign all this ahead of time, so when the embassy receives the packet 3, the lawyers will send it in that same day.

BUUUT... my lawyer sent me an email and requested the BNK number. I gave it to him, and he said he's going to send in packet 3 on the 28th (two days ago), and that if you have the BNK number attached to the packet 3, and your packet 3 arrives before the embassy receives your papers from NVC, they won't throw it away because it has the BNK number on it...?

Who knows!!

Hey Thee_Rak,

I was in the exact same situation. I emailed the consulate and explained my situation, asking for the interview to be moved forward a few days so I could wrap up the process without having to make a return trip...because I definitely wanted to be in Thailand with her for her interview. Well, they replied that they had alot of request of this type, and that they could not approve them. So, no help from the Consulate! I returned to the US and about a week later had to go right back for the interview.... I would email them and ask though, maybe you'll get a more favorable response.

If you look at my timeline in the autosig, you'll see that we were missing one document at the interview. The document we were missing was the 'single certificate'. At that time, it was not listed as a requirement in the packet 3/4 information. So...we didn't have it at the interview, and had never heard of it! We had to go back to my wife's hometown of Chiang Mai to get it. The consulate told us that it had to be issued from her home town. It was easy to get from her hometown amphur (same day), but we kinda took our time about it...

Wow! That is a long wait until July for the interview! I think our wait was about 8 weeks....

Peace and Congrats! You're getting close!

By hometown, you mean where she lives or where her home registration is? She lives and works in Patong, but her house registration is her parents place in Nakhon Si.

Shawndoc,

Her hometown means wherever she was born. Wherever her records of her will be kept. Where did you get her birth certificate from? that's where you get the single document

I'm confused.... the checklist says that documents that are not in English or Thai need to be translated. Why would you need to have a Thai document from the police translated? Do you have to have the police background check thing translated?

Just going down the K visa checklist, and I see the Bangkok embassy requires "Verification of unmarried status". However they don't provide any example or explanation. What document do we need to provide them to prove she has not been married before?

you need a document stating that she is single. You can get this in her hometown. It's just a paper saying she is single, is legally able to marry, etc., and I believe it needs to be translated but not sure. i would assume so.

Yes, needs to be translated and certified. The village police commander can do this, your fiancee will need witnesses to attest that she has not been married.

Chok Dee!

Theerak,

You need to translate all documents that are not in english. If a document IS in english, you don't need to translate it. Good luck! :D

That's not what the packet 3 instructions say.

Page 5:

All documents not in English or in Thai must be accompanied by certified English translations.

So based on their own instructions, you don't need to translate Thai documents. I would guess the only thing you would have to translate would be a police report or similar from some place they had lived in the past, like Malaysia or Laos.

Haha, yea just part of the annoying process we call LEGAL immigration... But hey just remember you're real close to being done with this ####### forever

I already told her it would be quicker to fly her into Mexico and just buy her SS# at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles.

I actually checked Mexico's rules for a Thai visitor (Was considering taking her on a Mexican vacation last year), and as best I could figure out, Mexico requires visitors from Thailand to have a valid US tourist visa to enter Mexico. Guess that's one way to cut back on visa processing, just outsource it to your northern neighbor.

That is exactly why I said I was confused... the Packet 3 instructions say "all documents not in Thai or English need to be accompanied by certified English translation". Someone here said that the police background check is provided in English and someone else said that "everything" needed to be in English (so Thai birth certificate, letter about single status, etc) would all have to be translated... that made no sense given what the instruction checklist says!!!
