MarkNAam,

Why was it the most frustrating part? Now you've got me worried!! From the time we got our NOA 2 (March 10th) to the time NVC received and then SENTit to the embassy (March 26th), it was only two weeks and 2 days. I am just wondering how long it takes to get to the embassy!! I hope my fiance has her interview soon!!!!! (Knock on wood!!!)

The wait between NA02->NVC->Thailand Consulate was the most frustrating part of our visa journey. It all went fine...but it took 5 weeks!

Peace to all!

MarkNAam

Hey littleasianman7,

It was only frustrating because it took so long! It was like my K1 dropped into a black hole during that time. I had always heard that things started to move much quicker once you got the NA02...so I thought I would pass through the NVC and on to the Thai Consulate quite quickly. However...it just slowly moved along, which was frustrating because there was no processing happening during that time...it was just sitting on a loading dock waiting to be shipped Plus, I was anxious.

However, it sounds like you made it from the NA02-NVC-Thai consulate in only 2 weeks and two days...so you're in good shape...nothing to worry about!

Once I had confirmed via email to the Thai consulate that they had received my packet from the NVC, I made up for some time by downloading the Packet 3 documents from the website and sending them in. That saved me about 3 weeks of wait time, and worked fine.

Peace!

MarkNAam

Just going down the K visa checklist, and I see the Bangkok embassy requires "Verification of unmarried status". However they don't provide any example or explanation. What document do we need to provide them to prove she has not been married before?

One more question, on the DS-230 employment section, for location is just city/country ok, or do we need to provide more detail? If so, how much. (I checked the example form, and it doesn't address this)

you need a document stating that she is single. You can get this in her hometown. It's just a paper saying she is single, is legally able to marry, etc., and I believe it needs to be translated but not sure. i would assume so.

Yes, needs to be translated and certified. The village police commander can do this, your fiancee will need witnesses to attest that she has not been married.

Chok Dee!

My wife picked up her 'single certificate' at the local amphur in her hometown. She said it was pretty easy to get. Might as well get a few copies of it as well. They gave it to her the same day.

Peace!

Thanks guys. Any idea what the document is called in Thai? If not, no worries. Any ideas about my question about employment history on the Packet 3 paperworK?

shawndoc,

Does your fiancee have Internet access? If so, have her read up on the K-1 process here:

Hey Tingtong, I like your new avatar! Someone in the past jokingly said that it would be easier to buy your fiance a ticket to Mexico and have her walk/wade/swim across the border than go through this process!

My honey spends a lot of time on that that forum, I wonder if they know each other?

Chok Dee!!

She's really computer illiterate and her only access is cafe's. To give you an idea, I gave her the link to the forums there a few days ago, and today when talking to her I asked her if she had looked at it and if she would use it. She said she printed it out to read later.

So I have no idea exactly what she printed out, but clearly doesn't get the idea of Internet forums.

Another example, I wanted her to set up a Yahoo account for video chat, since we'd been having a lot of problems with MSN starting around October (And still do). I was with her in the cafe, got her to the Thai sign up page, which is fully in Thai, and turned it over to her. She still had to ask the lady running the shop for help 4 times because she couldn't figure out how to fill out the page.

(And for those keeping track, MSN - Great video, horrible audio problems. Yahoo - Great audio, horrible video problems. None of the cafe's she goes to have Skype, so haven't been able to try that. Some days MSN works great, but mostly we end up having to talk over the phone while just having the video open)

Shawndoc,

Well, it's 4:23 AM and because I just got back from Thailand like three days ago I am freaking jet lagged!!!

Anyways, I don't know the name of the "single" document but all she needs to do is go into her city or village, wherever it may be that she lives, and tell them she needs a document stating that she is indeed single and that she is able to legally marry. They will know what she is talking about. She needs to bring a witness with her as well, from what I have been told. Correct me if I am wrong guys who have gone through this. My fiance is going tomorrow to pick her singles document as well. I think she's going to take her dad with her tomorrow to go with her, just so she can have a witness.

Shawndoc, has the NVC received your petition yet?
