2 things for you guys, in the section for DS 230 Part 1 where it asks if someone assisted you in completion of this form... is it ok that I put my name and address as I am completeing the form and sending it to her to sign and send off to the embassy? I would assume so... just wondering if anyone else did the same. Also does anyone have the address you should send the Packet 3 to and who to make it attention to etc...? Her Packet 3 got lost in the mail according to the embassy so I'm sending everything to her already completed and all she has to do is sign and send.

Thanks,

Steve

Hey guys, I emailed the embassy in Bangkok and they replied on March 16th saying that Packet 3 was sent to my Fiancee on the 11th of March. She still has not recieved it in the mail yet 10 days later. Any experiences of anyone else taking this long... don't know how slow the Thai mail system is or if they use a Fed Ex type of service or anything. Is there anything she will get in the mail that I can't just print and mail to her myself? I plan to fill it all out for her and mail it to her anyway as far as the forms go for what needs to be sent in, the rest I will bring over when I come to Thailand for her interview. Also does she have to do the medical and police certificates before she sends Packet 3 back or can she do it after? Any help is appreciated. We wanna get this sent in asap so we can get our interview date asap... not that any of you are in the same boat! lol :P

Thanks,

Steve

steve it took my husband over 3 weeks to get his packet 3. what we did was print everything off the website and schedule the medical and requested the police cert since it took two weeks to get. (the instructions say when you have all the items on check list you sign off on the sheet and then send it in and they will send you an interview date) we gambled and sent in packet 3 anyway before we completed the list since they don't collect those items by mail. probably saved a few weeks of wait time for the interview date.

good luck

I know that I am married to a Cambodian and this is the Thai thread, but we were grandfathered in when we had our interview in BKK and have made many friends here.

Anyway just wanted to let some of the old guard that Mariya received her 10 year green card today. I know there are quite a group of us going through the I-751 process. We would like to hear how some of you are doing.

We will be filing for naturalization in November.

Good Luck to all

Sam and Mariya

Good luck George and Joom! Have you visited the K1 subforum? Threads for the month you file so you can relate with people on the same timeline.

I don't have the address for the Embassy in Bkk Huge, it was posted a few pages back if I remember correctly? You can find it at their website or email them if you have questions. They have been pretty good with replies for me. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov

Congrats on the green card Sam!

We sent our packet 3 on March 6, they mailed the packet 4 to us on March 20 and we still hadn't received it as of yesterday-Bangkok to Nakhon si Thammarat. Our interview is scheduled for June 6.

Just to help speed things along, I want to go ahead and fill out all the forms required for Packet 3. Is there anything in the packet 3 that can't be downloaded and filled out in advance? I don't trust the Thai postal system to get the packet 3 to my fiance in a reasonable time, so want to have her reply to the packet 3 as soon as we get word that the embassy has mailed the packet 3 to her.

(As a side grumble, 9 days since NOA2 notification and the NVC still has not received the paperwork. I know, I'm impatient.)

Sam,

Great news! Ying received her 10 yr green card in the mail on New Year's Eve 2007. We will be going through the naturaliztion process later this year. They are in the process of changing the exam. If Ying files before the end of October (I think) she will have the option of which exam to take. She can file sometime in late August which is 90 days before her 3 year anniversary.

Thanks guys for the responses. Yea, that's pretty much what I've been hearing too (about the timeframe).

Shawndoc,

I did what you did as well. I was in Thailand with my fiance the last three months (just came home two days ago... :( ) and while there we printed everything off and she signed everything as well.

The only things you can't print off the internet are her copy of the passport, and her two passport photos obviously haha.

About it being 9 nine days NVC not receiving it, just so you know it's been taking a LONG time for NVC lately. We got our NOA 2 on March 10th, and I am not sure when NVC received it, but I know that when I called them on the 27th they had already forwarded it to the US embassy in BKK on March 26th, so that's 16 days after our NOA 2. Some people have been waiting a month JUST for NVC to receive it.

I know I'm like you, VERY impatient, but just remember you're ALMOST there, and after this, you'll never have to be separated from your fiance again and never have to do this again!!! I keep telling myself that too! :D

The wait between NA02->NVC->Thailand Consulate was the most frustrating part of our visa journey. It all went fine...but it took 5 weeks!

Peace to all!
