congrats on the approvals!!!

i am amazed to hear these stories about people having to pay these "fees" to get their documents. what a shame. i guess we were very lucky that we didn't encounter anything at all like that. i wonder if it's different for the ladies trying to immigrate. anyways i'm glad everyone got all the stuff they needed and the approvals are coming through.

Congrats ThaiStyleUSA! Man, that is fantastic news!

If I remember correctly, I believe I read that you've not seen her in about year. Now that she has her visa, when will she be coming to the USofA?

Very welcome to her! And peace to you both!

Hey Sqdnguns, did you morph into tingtongfarang?

How did it all end with the medical? OK??

LOL.....yup, I am now TingTongFarang.

Ou went back the same afternoon to complete her medical. When she arrived there, she showed them the e-mail that I had forwarded to her from the embassy saying that the shots for cervical cancer were NOT required.

They then proceeded on with her medical, in the morning, they would not do anything until she agreed to the shot. By the time she saw the Dr, everything went smooth. The Dr told her that the cervical cancer shot WAS required and she showed her the e-mail. He basically told her that he would not sign off on her physical unless she has the shot. #######

She called me in a panic, 2:30 AM PST, not knowing what to do, I told her to just get it and I would contact the embassy and tell them that it is my feeling that the hospital/Dr were basically extorting money from patients.

If you recall, when she went first thing in the morning, she was told that the shot alone was 12,000 Baht, funny thing is that when she went to pay for the medical and shots, the total was only 8,400 Baht. Something fishy going on here......

Ou was so upset with what had happened that she forgot to go back with her receipt to pick up her results. She went back to Bangkok yesterday and picked it up. Good thing she did not go back to Surin, she went to Koh Samet to visit her sister so she did not have to endure another 6+ hour train ride just to pick up the medical results.

Once I have the name of the Dr from Ou, I keep forgetting to ask her, I will draft up a letter to the embassy complaining about the practices of the hospital in regards to the cervical cancer shot requirement. As stated before, nowhere in the paperwork provided by the embassy or the embassy's web site does it say that this is required. Not to mention the e-mail that I had received from the embassy stating it was not required.

Hopefully none of you will have to deal with the same BS from Bumrungrad Hospital.

Chok Dee!!

that's crazy ting...utter nonsense. shame that she was basically extorted like that. i'm sure if the doctor was amenable the report could have been issued with notation of the patients' refusal to have the shot and leave it to the embassy. i'm curious if all the doctors are doing that or perhaps just that doctor? you should also consider a formal letter to the hospital administration at any rate i'm glad you are that much closer to being reunited.

out of curiosity do they still have another place in bkk to conduct medical? i want to say it was a nursing home or something that's on the list in packet 3. maybe going forward it could be recommended to newer people to go there?

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks much for the update TTF! Could you possibly pm me the docs name, or just post it here if you know it. I think we can request a particular doc when making an appt. and I'd sure like to avoid that guy! We still haven't received our p4 or interview date. I've emailed several times but haven't got word yet? Hope all goes smooth for you from here.

Hey everyone,

So basically, here's my question. I am using a co-sponsor because I am a student and am currently in Thailand with my fiance, thus I have no job right now. However, when i go back to America I am going to intern at my friend's dad's real estate development firm and go to school at the same time.

from what I understand you had to have made like 125% above the poverty line? My mom totally does, and I would as well if I worked consistently for a year.

Basically my question is I don't have much money right now, and my records probably won't prove it. I played poker for my money for pretty much the past year, so do you think the co-sponsor alone should be okay?

I do have a W2 and from what I understand only the most recent is required (although I tend to hear differently as well). Also, the co-sponsor is well above the poverty line. I understand the co-sponsor has to fill out the I-134 and we are going to submit the last 3 tax returns, last 3 W2's, a letter from the employer, etc.

Thanks everyone!!!

Question about the physical. How far in advance of the interview date does it need to be done? Can the police report be done by phone/mail or must she go to Bangkok to have it done? My Lisa lives in Phuket, and I'd like to minimize the number of trips she needs to make to Bangkok.

Just got an update for my girl's interview date on June 3rd. Packet 4 was sent on March 20th.

My girl stays in Satun and didn't want to go back and forth to Bangkok so she will go for the medical a few days before the interview date. Hope she won't have any problems with the medical exams.

I informed her of the situation that TingTongFarang was in, about the unnecessary shot.

Just excited that she finally got an interview date.

Its all for LOVE..

Hey guys, I emailed the embassy in Bangkok and they replied on March 16th saying that Packet 3 was sent to my Fiancee on the 11th of March. She still has not recieved it in the mail yet 10 days later. Any experiences of anyone else taking this long... don't know how slow the Thai mail system is or if they use a Fed Ex type of service or anything. Is there anything she will get in the mail that I can't just print and mail to her myself? I plan to fill it all out for her and mail it to her anyway as far as the forms go for what needs to be sent in, the rest I will bring over when I come to Thailand for her interview. Also does she have to do the medical and police certificates before she sends Packet 3 back or can she do it after? Any help is appreciated. We wanna get this sent in asap so we can get our interview date asap... not that any of you are in the same boat! lol :P

Thanks,

Steve

You are better off going to the embassy website and downloading P3 there. It took weeks for my fiancee to actually receive hers in the mail.

steve it took my husband over 3 weeks to get his packet 3. what we did was print everything off the website and schedule the medical and requested the police cert since it took two weeks to get. (the instructions say when you have all the items on check list you sign off on the sheet and then send it in and they will send you an interview date) we gambled and sent in packet 3 anyway before we completed the list since they don't collect those items by mail. probably saved a few weeks of wait time for the interview date.

good luck

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone know if it's ok on the DS230 part 1 where it asks if anyone helped in completion of this form if I put down my name as I am doing the forms for her and sending them to her to sign and then send to the embassy as she still doesn't have packet 3 in the mail? Anyone else done this without any problems? Otherwise she's gonna have a friend look at everything before she sends it off who does visas and he could probably put his name down since he'll be technically helping as well.

Thanks,
