Anyone else have a fiance(e) get their interview on April 3rd? My fiancee's is at 7 am.

Awesome Jamie! I am really happy for you and your siamese kitten ; - )

Thank you SqdnGuns. I am sure yours won't be too far off either. Just think, when started this journey, we thought we would be over this by December  Just glad this part of the journey is almost over.

Thank you too ThaiStyle

Hey everybody. I have not posted on here for awhile because I have been sick. Got sick in Bangkok while waiting for the interview. Thought I had the bird flu because I was so sick. Still recovering.

We had our interview on the 14th of January. It was very simple. We were out in about one hour. Got the visas on the 16th for Yutipha and the 2 children (took about 15 minutes). Flew back home on the 23rd. Long flight when you are very sick. It took about one hour to get through immigration at LAX International Airport in Los Angeles.

Applied for social security card for Yutipha on February 4th. No problem. One daughter started 1st grade on Wednesday this week. Hopefully we will marry next week. Not looking foward to starting the ton of paperwork for the AOS but I think the hard part is over now.

Glad to see everyone is getting their interview dates. Good luck to everyone. It's a long road but it is a lot easier when we can all discuss issues together. Thanks everyone for your support.

Thanks Kang Lang. I was told by the doctor here that a strain of flu virus on steriods was going around. He said it is taking people about 6-8 weeks to completely recover. I took a flu shot in September but the doctor said it did not work against this super flu. Hope no one here gets it. It kicked my........

wow 6-8 weeks that's a long time to be laid low but i bet it doesn't matter now that you have your visa sorted! no we had to wait a bit, some unforseen expense but we are gathering our docs and are filing this month :D. i plan to sack our attorney this week but am nervous about it. either way we will just follow the guides here and file aos on our on. can't wait to update our timeline with the next process. at least we are together for this part.

are you planning your wedding yet?

This is so wonderful that so many have been approved at the interviews as well as many of you now have dates!

Wont be long now.

To anyone who has recently went along to the interview, what did you wear? Or what did you see people wearing?

I'm really trying to pack light so that my fiancée can use my second suitcase for more of her stuff. Because of this, I'm trying to only bring what I would need for the interview, and a couple other sets of clothes.

Suit, Tie?

Nice Pair of pants and a tucked in white shirt?

I'm just wondering what everyone wore, or saw people wearing while they were there.

Don't quote me on this but I think nice pants and nice shirt with collar should be sufficient. I'm just like you...I packed light every time I go to Thailand and I took 2 luggages so I can buy a lot of stuff and bring back. :D At least you get to be there with your SO. I don't think I can get out of work to be there with my girl since I had just started this new job 2 months ago. Anyway, have a safe trip and good luck with the interview.

we saw all sorts of attire. my husband wore a sweater and slacks (he was the immigrant) i wore a blouse and khaki capri pants. no need for a tie esp. for the usc. just wear a polo and khakis should be fine. (we were cold inside, of course the air con was blasting)

GOOD LUCK!

No tie required, but all of the Embassy staff are dressed in short-sleeved dress shirts and ties. I went with slacks and a sport coat - open collar - and was definitely on the top end of the attire meter! We both felt better dressing up a bit, but it's really not a must -- really depends on your comfort level. The two other farangs who we met in the waiting area were more casually dressed than me, and all three of us left with Visas in hand. In essence I'd recommend dressing to you own level of comfort.

One other thing. Tell your bride-to-be that she shouldn't be concerned about the non-immigrant visa interviews that are going on while you wait. So many tourist and student visa applicants seem to show up totally unprepared, and the Embassy folks at times get pretty exasperated by the exercise. It's a much different situation for all of you. Once you finally get to the interview you're basically validating what they already believe -- that your application and relationship is legitimate, that you have the financial means to support her, and you should be together.

Best of luck my friends!

Mike
