Wow, the email response from visasbkk@state.gov came quick!

(1 day turn around on the email inquiry....but 6 day turn around since the paperwork was turned in. hehe)

"Thank you for your inquiry. The IV Unit received the returned Packet 3 materials of the applicant on December 28, 2007.

Once the interview appointment is scheduled for the applicant, we will notify her by mail"

Now I just sit and wait for the interview date. I hope it is posted soon so that I can start looking at plane tickets.

Excellent -- glad to hear it. We had the same good luck with a quick response, and were pleasantly surprised to hear from the Embassy the next day with a 1/31 appointment. I'm guessing you all will be a few days after us, but that's obviously just a guess.

Best of luck, and keep us posted on the progress!

Finally, the day is near. I will be leaving for Thailand on Sunday night (1/6). Our interview is on the 14th. We will be returning to the USA on the 23rd. I cannot believe this part of the nightmare is almost over with.

I am more than confident that the interview will be no problem. I have everything the embassy needs and then some. Better to have to much than to little.

Good luck to everybody.

Good Luck!

After all of the paperwork and waiting the interview should be the easiest part. It was for us. Only a couple of quick questions (mostly for me) then back the next day to pick up Ying's passport with her visa.

On the evening of the 14th if you are in the area of Sukhumvit Soi 2 stop in Bully's Pub for a celebration drink on me. I'll be there. I have to head to Bangkok for work. I'll be there 14-16 and again Jan 19-22. Unfortunately Ying has to stay home in the cold Wisconsin weather.

Best wishes and much success -- I'm sure you guys will do great. We're a little more than 2 weeks behind you, so make sure you warm them up for us OK? I know you're looking forward to the time when you can get back here and just relax ... not have to think about paperwork, deadlines, Q&A sessions, sustaining a LONG-distance relationship, cultural transitions, assimilation, etc., etc.!!!

Few others can truly understand what we're all collectively going through. Looking forward to celebrating our success at ThaiStyle's upcoming gathering!

Again, best of luck on the 14th!

Just found this out last night: There will be no immigrant or fiance visa interviews at the Bangkok embassy during the month of February. Interviews will resume in March.

Good luck to all!

This is some serious bad news. Unless a miracle happens and some of us get sandwiched in to the current list....we will be waiting until March.

Another whole month of idle time!

They havent updated the list since Jan 2nd. I was hoping a new one would come out today, but it did not. Texas Farang's note may clue into why that didnt get updated.

What is the deal behind the idle? Is it because of the death of the King's sister? That would be terrible if we have to wait any longer. It would be about a year now since I'd last seen my girl. I hope we could squeeze in this month as well. My girl is in BKK right now waiting for her police report. She said they will have it ready for her by Friday. This is the only thing left for her to do until the interview. Everything else is done.

The same thing happened at the beginning of 2007 (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78&view=findpost&p=653434). It was related to the re-opening of the Cambodian embassy and finishing all open Cambodian interviews being conducted in Bangkok by the end of February. If you do a search on the immigration timelines and sort by Thailand, you will see no interviews done for Thai fiancees/spouses in Feb 2007.

Not sure why it would happen again this year. I looked at the Bangkok embassy website and didn't see any reference to the delay. Agree with ThaiStyleUSA, it would be interesting to know the reason.

Wish all of you the best of luck on your upcoming interviews and reunions!

John
