I hope things went well at the medical exam. Hopefully she received a copy of the shots she received. You'll need this later when she gets to the US and you start applying for her green card.

I'm not sure how long it takes to get the visa but it is a good idea to start on the packet 3 info.

Best of luck!

Everything went ok for medical exam after all!

I went ahead and sent the Packet 3 information back to the Embassy before hand rather than waiting for the packet 3 info to arrive in her hands.(lawyer helped on this) Packet 3 was received by the Embassy on the 22nd on December.

So now I’m just sitting here pacing in a circle. waiting.

I’m using afterforever's timeline as a baseline for how long I can expect before I’m flying over to Thailand. I know it will be a bit off, but it gives me something to be happy about. :)

I’m also checking ThaiStyleUSA's timeline signature daily hoping that I see he has updated it with "received notice of the interview date" because that should mean my fiancée’s is on the way soon after. ThaiStyleUSA and Our timelines are really close and I’m hoping we both hear something very soon!

Hi Folks - another update... We received notice of our interview date about a week ago - my fiancee's interview will be on Wednesday, Jan 16th.

Afterforever - looks like we'll follow you by a couple of days - if i recall, your interview is scheduled for Monday of the same week.

I can only take one week off of work at this time (very busy period), so we've decided that it would be best if my fiancee takes a few days after the interview to visit her family, and then I'll fly over to BKK near the end of January. We'll spend just a couple of days in BKK, and then fly back to the US together and spend the rest of my time off exploring San Francisco (where we'll live) and getting settled in before I go back to work the following week.

Wishing everyone a happy and exciting new year!

- heyx2rr

Congrats and Best of luck. Happy New Year...wish I could accompany my fiancee during the her interview. I had just started this new job and don't have enough leave time. But I know she will do fine when she gets the date.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!   A TOAST TO A NEW BEGINNING!!

Hey ThaiStyleUSA and Tmc225usa, hope you guys get your interview dates soon. It seems like it takes 2-3 weeks after sending packet 3. You can always email the embassy and see if they have received your packet 3. That is what I did. They are good about responding back in a prompt manner. Most likely your interviews will be around the end of January. Good luck to everyone.

the embassy received our packet 3, for my step daughter's k2, early this week. a few days later, her interview appointment was posted here -

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html

click on the scheduled appointments link and look at the pdf list of the schedule. it seems to be updated regularly. last year, when we were going through the k1 process, we received packet 4 before the appointment was posted on the website. it seems like they are very on top of things at the moment. who know how long it will be before packet 4 arrives in the mail, but its a great relief to alreay know the appointment date!

good luck to everyone

My fiancee wants to know how long does it takes for the medical exam and will she get the result the same day? I understand it takes several weeks for the police report.

BKKCIS.Inquiries@dhs.gov

Thats the only one I found on the embassy site.

Hi ThaiStyleUSA, my fiancee was able to get all the exams, shots and paperwork completed from the medical exam in one day at the hospital (a total of about 5 hours there, I believe). She also requested the police report on the same day (Dec 11), and they told her it should be ready by the end of this month - about 3 weeks. I need to double check to see whether that has arrived yet.

BKKCIS.Inquiries@dhs.gov

Thats the only one I found on the embassy site.

Here's the email scoop from the Embassy website:

E-mail Inquiries

Email inquiries should be directed to: visasbkk@state.gov. Please include the words “IV Inquiry” and your case number which would begin with the letters “BNK” followed by ten digits in the subject line. We do our best to respond to inquiries within three business days.

They responded to my email within 24 hours, and followed up again that next day. I know they're particularly busy right now with the holidays, and like most of us in the states enjoying some holiday time, but I nonetheless received a personal reply surprisingly fast.

Looks like there are several of us with similar timelines. Having an attorney in Bangkok certainly helped us to keep things moving very quickly once we got the Case Number from NVC. Now our interview is scheduled and plane tickets are booked!

Good luck to all.

It took my fiance 3 hours to complete everything at BNH and she received all the documents needed. The hospital has all the forms you need at the hospital and they give them to you in a sealed manila envelope.

We were told 2 weeks on police certificate, but that was back in September. If you pick it up, it's faster than if you have it sent to your house.

Also, I know I've mentioned this several times in the forum, but don't forget to go to the Amphur of your fiance's birth to get an official birth certificate before you leave Thailand. You need it when you adjust status in the U.S. and we're having a heck of a time getting approved because of a mistake made on it 29 years ago.

Good luck!
