Sorry I won't be able to accompany my girl for the interview. Just started a new job 2 weeks ago and don't have enough days off to make it there. I have been coaching her right now of what to do and say to be prepared for the interview.

we've been waiting for packet 3 to arrive in the mail, in order to process my wife's daughter's k2, but it has not yet arrived at her house in bangkok. (it's been a month+)

we went ahead downloaded the packet 3 forms from the embassy website, but one of the forms is not available.

#3 on the enclosure list is:

3- form ds-156(k) supplemental k1 visa form (for k only)

this form does not seem to be available on the embassy website. is it actually included in the packet 3 that is sent in the mail? is there another way to get it?

thanks,

dvd

Hey all,

I am about to start my process and just gaining info now. Does anyone know if DCF is still being done. I am searching everywhere but it seems like the posts end around February. Is it not possible to do that anymore. I was a student and have been living here for almost 2 years and this would be a faster way to bring Gift back to the states. Thanks for your help

it looks like i was confusing the ds 156(k) supplemental K1 visa form, on the packet 3 enclosure list, with an old form called ds 156 (BNK supplement). i was looking for the wrong form.

thanks for the help

Hello there! I'm located in Bangkok, Thailand...and just completing the steps for the DS 230.

Problem is my fiancee has a 5 year old son who is currently being raised by his grandmother. We are not planning to take him to America now, as well...financially we aren't prepared yet and two-- the son is in official custody of his mother (my fiancee's ex wife).

We are hoping to take him in a couple of years. In the DS 230 do I fill out his son's name for "person who will accompany us later." I would definitely do it, but I'm not sure if his son needs to accompany us to the interview (although I took note that another Sawasdee visa journey member's fiancee didn't have to take their child to the interview). The reason this is a problem is although his exwife is not actually raising the child, nor supporting the child financially-- she also does not want him to go to America.

We are currently financially supporting the child, and hoping that his mother and grandmother will change their mind in the future...if they see the benefits of providing him with a few more opportunities than in his current household (and as cynical as this sounds, that his son would eventually be able to provide much more if he were afforded an education) .

But with the current state of affairs, we can not take him to the interview as the grandmother and mother feel we are trying to "steal" him.

2 questions.

1) what should i fill out on the ds 230?

2) does his son need to accompany him to the interview?

Thank you for your help.

I am very lucky to have the free time to go. I am sure your fiancee will do just fine at the interview. Have you gotten your interview date yet?

I would definitely check the box that your fiance's son will "follow later". I do not believe it will be a problem if you do not bring the son to the interview, especially considering the circumstances. You can email the embassy as to whether he will need to be at the interview but like I said, I do not think it will be a problem.. They always respond quickly to my emails (in one day).

.

Good luck!

No not yet. Hopefully somewhere in mid to the end of January.

I apologize if this has been asked and then answered before in this thread. I’m trying to read through all 150 pages of the thread, but it is taking time to do so :)

I have a question about the Thai Medical Exam.

My fiancée is going tomorrow to the hospital in Bangkok to get this completed.

She is a bit of a hypochondriac, and not the biggest fan of going to the doctor, so she is worrying big time about what all this includes.

(She hasn’t received packet 3 yet, but the lawyer recommended we do this now and get it out of the way.)

Can someone give me a rundown of what all they do test wise, and what all they give her shots wise?

Id like to know what all they test for, and what all immunizations they will be giving her. Id like to be able to tell her before she goes so as to help her not worry about it so much.

Right now, I’m pretty much stuck with “I think you have to get some shots but I don’t know which.”

I’ve been searching, but haven’t found a definitive list as to what the medical exam covers.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

10/03/13: N400 Sent to Dallas Service Center
10/11/13: Received
10/16/13: NOA
11/06/13: Biometrics
01/13/14: Passed Interview!
05/16/14: Oath Ceremony. Finally Finished!

I hope things went well at the medical exam. Hopefully she received a copy of the shots she received. You'll need this later when she gets to the US and you start applying for her green card.

I'm not sure how long it takes to get the visa but it is a good idea to start on the packet 3 info.

Best of luck!

Hi Folks - another update... We received notice of our interview date about a week ago - my fiancee's interview will be on Wednesday, Jan 16th.

Afterforever - looks like we'll follow you by a couple of days - if i recall, your interview is scheduled for Monday of the same week.

I can only take one week off of work at this time (very busy period), so we've decided that it would be best if my fiancee takes a few days after the interview to visit her family, and then I'll fly over to BKK near the end of January. We'll spend just a couple of days in BKK, and then fly back to the US together and spend the rest of my time off exploring San Francisco (where we'll live) and getting settled in before I go back to work the following week.

Wishing everyone a happy and exciting new year!
