I noticed Jamie had gotten RFE too...what's up with that? Are they picking on Thailand now?

No i think they are picking on many people. I also got RFE'd and still no approval, they are telling me that we are still in the 60 days time frame.

You'd been waiting this long and still no approval? Did you call them and ask for your status?

Oh yes we've call them many times, all they keep on saying is that we have to wait 60 days.

Texas...thanks so much for compliment. Best of luck to you as well. I'm sure we'll be communicating many times in the process. I am also trying to get everyone (with Thai spouse) to buy in on the idea of forming an annual get together on a weekend somewhere neutral perhaps next year in Spring time. More to come. Take care.

Great idea ThaiStyle -- count us in. What a great way to celebrate, as there are few other people on the planet that can understand what we're all going through right now.

And who knows. There certainly may be several of us converging on BKK at the same time in early '08 to help our ladies step through the final phases of this process. I know one big source of stress for my fiancee was the idea of flying alone to the U.S. Once I told her I'd be there and we'd fly back here together I could feel some of the stress melt away.

In any event, let's aim for the first annual Sawasdee 2 Farang-Palooza in 2008!

OUR TIMELINE

06/01/07 ----- Hired US Immigration Law Thailand to Prepare Documentation, Guide Through Process

06/26/07 ----- I-129F Mailed to Texas (to California for processing)

11/20/07 ----- I-129F NOA2 (per website; awaiting hard copy)

11/26/07 ----- Received NOA2 hard copy

12/04/07 ----- Called NVC; nothing received from USCIS and case number not yet assigned

12/12/07 ----- CASE NUMBER ASSIGNED AND FILE MAILED TO BANGKOK EMBASSY!

12/15/07 ----- Package received @ Bangkok Embassy

12/18/07 ----- Medical, Police Background

12/22/07 ----- Packet to BKK Embassy

12/26/07 ----- Packet received by BKK Embassy; estimate 3-4 weeks until interview date is scheduled

12/27/07 ----- Packet 4 mailed by Embassy; interview scheduled!!! :-)

01/31/08 ----- SUCCESSFUL Interview: Bangkok Embassy

02/04/08 ----- Pick up Visa

I am also planning to be with my fiancee during the interview, then flying back together. LA International Airport is hard enough to navigate even for US citizens. Coming to a new country will be difficult enough without adding the extra stress of the airport.

The embassy just emailed me and stated they had mailed packet 3 to my fiancee on Nov. 21st. Hope the packet gets there, as we all know how unreliable the Thai mail system is. The embassy did not state if they sent the packet via EMS or regular mail. Hopefully I will receive it soon.

Good luck everybody!

I don't understand why your case taken so long to decide. It's going to be 60 days in a few. It only took them 2 days for my case to be approved. May I ask what was your RFE for?

Hi folks - another quick update. I received a letter today, dated 11/19/07, indicating that the "State Deparment's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

So we received our NOA2 on 10/18, and it looks like our petition should be officially forwarded to the Bangkok Embassy by the beginning of this coming week.

Based on the timeline in the K1 flowchart, it looks like we should expect the Bangkok Embassy to receive the package in approximately one week, and that we should then receive the package w/in one additional week or less. I think this will probably mean that the earliest we could get the interview scheduled would be the beginning of January - since it's my understanding that there are only a limited number of interviews scheduled for the 2nd half of December.

From the recent posts, it sounds like there are a number of us who are all on a similar timeline. Looking forward to updates from other VisaJourney folks as things happen over the next couple of months.

As much as I miss my fiancee, I am hoping my interview will be the 3rd-4th week of January. I am not fond of flying during the craziness of the holidays. In addition, I see many flights are already booked up and costing top dollar. I know things will start slowing down with the airlines about mid January, so for me this would be the ideal time to have an interview sheduled.

Thanks ThaiStyleUSA.

Good luck everybody!!

You welcome Afterforever...I am sort of in the same situation. Our interview probably some time toward the end of January. It doesn't look like I will be able to have enough days to get away from work to be with her during the interview. But she does understand the situation. I am coaching her right now for interview. I am trying to alleviate the fear from her.

Just a reminder for those of you waiting on the embassy in BKK for packets and interview dates, if you have any questions you can e-mail the embassy directly at visasbkk2@state.gov. Make sure you put put the following information in the subject line "Inquiry BNK'insertcasenumberhere' 'insert applicant name here' " (Inquiry BNK20071234567 Smith). They can usually get back to you in 24 hours with good answers. I bothered them a lot a few months ago. :)

it took about 2 weeks for my husband to get packet 3...a piece of advice if i may. now that you know it's in the post, just go ahead and download everything and and send in notice that you are prepared for your interview it will save a few weeks time. by the time they recieve everything you can have your medical, certificate of being single etc all ready.

GOOD LUCK!
