i did not find the CO understanding whatsoever and would hate to risk a denial.

From what i have read others' interview experiences from a Thai forum, the CO wouldn't just flat out deny you right there if you don't have enough required/supporting documents on your interview date. They'd tell you to get what is needed (e.g., all related documents of a co-sponser if a co-sponser is needed) then come back and submit it. and that'd cause delay. Once you submit all they want, they grant you a visa.

Ok, so for some reason I thought the 125% level was higher than it is. I just looked at the poverty guidelines and my return for 2006 shows a few thousand above it, so now I'm not going to worry:) How anyone, especially in California, can live on 12k per year is beyond me.

Anyway, I'll for sure let everyone know how it goes, and this is at least one less thing I am going to worry about now.

o that's good news then. one less headache. i don't have any idea how one lives in california if they can i am certainly amazed.

best of luck to you!!!

Sawatdee krup... สวัสดีครับ

I wonder if maybe I could ask the group for a favor...

Hi, I'm Jeff (the USC) and my fiancée is Lek. She is Thai (living in Bangkok). I've submitted the I-129F and am just now waiting for the NOA1 (and the whole rest of the process). Anyway, her English is "pretty good" and my Thai is coming along but I was hoping that maybe one of you had a Thai fiancée who really understood the process and could explain to Lek what's coming and what she's going to need to do.

Not looking for a new best friend or anything like that but if you wouldn't mind a short phone call or maybe to walk her through the flowchart over a coffee?

Thanks so much

ขอบคุณมากครับ

Hi Jeff:

Have your fiancee go to this web board: http://www.usvisa4thai.com/board/viewforum...66cd892e38c9013

It is very similar to VJ but in Thai and specifically for Thai fiancees of USCs. She can get familiar with the process by reading all the guides and also post any questions she may have on the web board. The people there are so nice, supportive, and very helpful. Many of them went thourhg this process already -successfully. I am sure she'll learn tons of things from there.

Good Luck. (F)

I will be leaving for Thailand next Friday, the 7th, spending a few days in BKK and then off to Surin. Anyone else going to be there around then? Anyone have any request while I am there? I'll be returning to SoCal on the 16th, short trip but better than nothing.

Let me know via PM.

If I may inquire is it looking like the timeframe from receipt of petition to date of interview is looking like 4-6 weeks at this point? This seems a bit faster than when I brought my wife over several years ago (right now I'm petitioning for my stepdaughter).

Do you know what they are looking at the most on an I-134? Do they ask any questions about it at the interview?

I graduated from college, worked for 7 months, and then did tsunami relief/development work for a year. Needless to say my numbers don't look that great on paper. I have proof that I file taxes, graduated college, have good credit, and had a good job, but the numbers still don't look great. How concerned should I be about the I-134?

feyser,

you should be pretty concerned about the i-134. they do examine it, fairly closesly. they took my i-134 form, my employment letter, tax return and 6 months worth of pay stubs. they in fact kept my pay stubs for their records. if you don't exceed the 125% over poverty line i would definitely get a sponsor lined up on your behalf. they didn't ask us any q's about the i-134 but i was significantly over the requirement. again if you are borderline you defo should consider a co-sponsor. credit is irrelevant to them btw.

Good luck to you!

I did some searching and found some interesting stuff on the decision making process for an I-134. Download this form.

http://foia.state.gov/masterdocs/09fam/0940041N.pdf

Scroll Down to "9 FAM 40.41 N4.6-2" and there's some good information there; particularly letter E & F.
