Nok just had her interview yesterday and it was a breeze. They asked me a few questions about me starting school in August and asked her when and how we met and what she wants to do in the US. I was amazed how quick it all went (5 minute interview or less). We arrived at 12:45 in the waiting room and we were done by 1:30.

They said that all fiance and immigrant visas now take 2 business days to receive b/c of having to run the applicants pic through a face recognition software. We showed them our itinerary of flying out Sunday night, so they got Nok's done for us by the next day (today or Friday). So I just want to warn future interviewees that supposedly it now takes two days to receive the visa. At least that is what our interviewer said.

heyx2rr - congrats on starting your journey! My experience is that it is somewhat slow, but I also believe the process worked very well for us. It is thorough...but in the end that is really to our own advantage, for it ensures that all the right steps are followed in the process. Plus, now that I can look back a little bit, our 8 month process from initial K-1 Petition submission to her moving to the United States seems to have really flown by...

Kang Lang - congrats on the successful interview! That is fantastic that you'll both be together in the United States very soon!

aitan - congrats also! Fantastic news that you'll also be together in the United States very soon as well!

Wow...such great news for the weekend... ;)

Peace to all,

My girl got her K1 visa on July 5. She has to go back to BK on the 9th to pick it up. Some lady over the phone told her she needed about 15,000 baht for the visa. I called and got no were over the phone. I asked on another forum and was told no money is paid on the day she gets the visa. I am hoping she asked the question wrong. I am thinking the lady said 15,000 baht for all the embassy and medical fees.

I sent out my application packet Dec. 28,2006 and she got the visa July 5,2007. I will be going to Thailand in mid August to bring her to america.

If anyone is doing the application paperwork make sure you mail it by July 30, 07. The fee is going from $170 to $455.

What would be the chances of us getting a subforum set up in the "Regional Discussion" forum? There are a lot of filers that have a fiance(e) from Thailand. I think it would be a great way to share stories, post advice and questions specifically geared towards Thailand. A number of countries have their own subforum...how about us? Going through 100+ pages of one post can be someone difficult and time consuming.

I wrote to VisaJourney, but so far haven't gotten a response. Maybe there needs to be a poll? What does everyone think?

Sao's interview is August 6th. Unfortuneatly I will not be able to attend. I too am very interested in finding out how interviews are going though. What kind of questions, attitude of the interviewer, etc. As I understand the Embassy has a new person, (female), that does the interviews. She has only been doing interviews for a week or so. I am curious how she is working out. Any more inputs?

As far as the new sub-forum; I agree that we should have one. There is another thread under the Asia,(except China), thead addressing this same thing. But it is not going too well.

Good luck everyone!

Try reading the reviews for the Bangkok Consulate, by clicking on the "Embassy/USCIS Reviews" link at the top of the page. Then select Thailand from the dropdown menu for Embassy. There are a lot of good reviews posted, with all sorts of detailed information.
