Well, Yodrak, I'm no stranger to confusion...or finding my foot in my mouth...

After re-checking your timeline...I see it was more like 7 months. I was confused by the "377 days for 130" remark. In fact, I still am.

But that shouldn't detract from my expressed sentiment; Because of you, I was able to identify the fact that my "visa agent" was little more than uh, ambitious....

....but now exposed (and disposed). Thanks again.

Still have not heard back from Bill White (!?!).

hi there,

was wondering if i could ask some advice...have already received our approval from the dept. of homeland security on the 27th of march and been advised that our petition was sent off to the nvc but they haven't received it yet, most of the timelines i read here were fairly short anyone have any ideas as to what makes some faster than others? is it just random? does one truly need an i-864? i filed the i-134 when i filed my original petition.

sorry to ramble, it's been over a year since i have seen my boyfriend and i just want to get on with our lives.

thanks!

Kang Lang,

Although its been almost a few years, I still remember how I felt about the whole process and I know what you are going through...all I can say is not to worry so much, I am sure you'll receive the NVC approval soon, I'd try to keep calling the NVC (which I am sure you are doing)...hang in there...and yes, for the K-1 it is the I-134 you should send your fiancee to hand in during his K-1 interview.

After my wife and I got married and she applied for her AOS, then I submitted the I-864 with that application...

well, best wishes for you all!

regards,

George

Waiting for NVC to recieve our case was the most stressful moment of the journey for us... Just be patient, it will get there. After that, its smooth sailing. The staff (US personnel) at the BKK consulate were extremely friendly and helpful.

Good luck,

Matt

Hello,

I am a little confused about the vaccination form. Are we supposed to bring that form to her family doctor for him to check off what she has already had and then bring it to the medical exam to have it finished. Or are we supposed to bring a letter from her physician to the medical exam and have these doctors fill everything out. I am not even sure if a doctor here in Thailand would understand the vaccination worksheet unless they were given instructions about it before hand from the Embassy. It is really confusing.

Right now we are going to give the worksheet to her mom while we visit tomorrow for Songkran but we really don't know what to tell her to do with it. All her vaccination information is there with her doctor and we don't have time to do it ourselves since we work and her city is a couple hours north of Bangkok.

Any clarification on what to do with this worksheet would be very helpful.

George,

Point of clarification: the NVC does not approve anything. For the K visas it is a simple distribution center, for the immigrant visas it collects some of the visa application materials and for some consulates schedules the interviews.

In all cases the consulates do the approving.

Yodrak

..... I am sure you'll receive the NVC approval soon, .....

aitian,

All of the medical forms are completed by the consulate-approved panel physicians. As far as the vaccination form goes, she should take whatever information she has from her family physician with her to the visa medical exam.

thank you george/matt, that was helpful!!! it is very stressful. the i-797 indicated that i will here from them w/in 30 days, is that from the notice of approval? separately does it matter if he was denied a tourist visa before? (he has had visas to the the u.s. before but his last was denied, any bearing on the k-1?)

thanks again for being so helpful.

Great info here!! I am in the process is getting my fiancee's I-29F package together, what a PITA but it will be worth it in the end.

My finacee is in Lamduan, near Surin, waiting out this whole process. I just received some documents from her the other day and I am just waiting for my birth certificate from Mass and a copy of my divorce decree.

One thing I am confused about; I have seen on the UCIS site that I am to send my I-29F package to Vermont although I am in California. Heck, the UCIS office is only 45 minutes from me in Laguna Niguel, why would I have to send it to Vermont? Guess I should just give them a call, before I send it out.

Also, I have seen some "Timelines" that are very positive and others that are depressing just to process the I-29F and getting the final interview and approval from the embassy in Bangkok. If I recall correctly, I saw one that was only 4 months from submission till the bride and groom were reunited and I have seen a few that were almost a year, OUCH!!

Well, I plan on being here daily to pick your brains to see what kind of good advice you can provide.

Thanks for the GREAT source of info!!
