Hey anyone pass thru the new airport in BKK recently? Im going to be there next sunday and im curious how long from my arrival time until i actually leave the airport? I know Don Muang was pretty bad, but is the new one worse?

My fiancee signed the part 1 also, and she got her visa. I think that part 2 is the only part that needs to be witnessed by the C.O...

Hmmm.....to sign or not sign? I think I will just send it in unsigned as per the instructions. It seems as if it is not a major deal to the embassy as you will have to sign it later regardless. I will be in Bangkok on Tuesday and I am reading that many people dropped their documents for scheduling the interview off directly at the embassy. Has anyone done this recently? I want to do that on Tuesday and just want to make sure it is still OK.

the docs cannot be taken directly to the embassy, they must be mailed. I am aware that they used to allow it, but sometime ago they cut that out.

Can the visa fee be paid at any post office? What does he need to have with her when she goes to the post office to pay? Am I to understand that she can pay the fee at any time before the interview and then just take the receipt for payment to the interview with her?

Bill,

Approximately 4,000 baht. Perhaps a bit less these days - the baht has been pretty strong against the dollar for quite some time now.

I just got back, it was not bad at all. I cannot tell you the exact amount of time, but from the time I got off the airplane the longest wait was for the luggage - as fate would have it mine came out last, i think I waited about 20 minutes. The rest was a breeze. My wait in the immigration line was maybe 5 minutes.

Coming back was even faster. I got to the airport 2 hours before my flight and wound up sitting around for at least an hour and a half waiting to board.

Hey all, I have some information that may be useful. When Pao got her packet 3 from the US Embassy in Bangkok, we noticed that the forms were different than those posted on the embassy US Embassy website. The checklist is not included on the website, or the instructions in Thai, or the new requrement regarding sending the photographs or the passport photos in. Pao scanned both front and back of every document included in the actual packet received and I have posted them in TIF (high resolution scans) and in PDF format here:

http://members.visi.net/~soxrox/Packet3-Bangkok-TIF.zip

or

http://members.visi.net/~soxrox/Packet3-Bangkok-PDF.zip

These are the current packet 3 documents as of 11-07-2006

Hope this helps some of you.

Hey thanks for the info Bill. I just remember Don Muang was always awful for me. Immigration lines were huge there. And it always took me about an hour and a half to get outta the airport. I leave next friday night. I cant wait.

Hey Bill,

I can't thank you enough for uploading the current packet 3 docs. Thanks for taking the time to scan them all. I have already downloaded them and will be combing through them now. It is a great service to those who will be waiting on the BKK Embassy in the near future. Who knows how often they update their site to reflect pdf changes. Thanks again!

Thanks again, Bill. I checked out all the docs yesterday and am sending the checklist, DS-230 (signed), two photos and copy of passport photo page. I am sending the checklist that is online as opposed to the one you scanned because it seems that the downloaded form is almost identical and I don't want them questioning where I got the packet 3 form when I don't even have packet 3. I hope there is no problem with sending that checklist.

I understand what you were saying previously in the thread about the signing of the DS-230. The instructions do not say not to sign the DS-230, so they must want it signed. The DS-156 is what they don't want signed when you bring it to the interview. Thanks again for helping me clear all this up!

dont forget, ultimoxo, that BKK embassy now requires you to use the e-version of the DS-156... Have your fiancee fill it in online. Good luck :)

I'm planning to go pick up my fiancee soon and bring her along with me. I was thinking about buying a round trip for me and a one way trip for her. But I can't find the tickets that would allow us to come at the same time and the same flight. I was thinking about buying two round trip tickets where I would fly over there and have her using that other ticket to come back with me. Would that work tho. That's the only option I see. How did you guys dealt with this situation? I just found out the news earlier tonight that she would have her interview on Dec. 28, 2006.

And I thought you are not supposed to sign the DS-230 I.

This is what I got from the email by the embassy,

Dear Sir,

This is to notify you that the IV Unit in Bangkok has scheduled the interview appointment for the above captioned case on 28-DEC-2006 at 07:00 am. The interview appointment letter and some additional forms have been mailed to this address on November 22, 2006

What do they mean by additional forms. I thought that's it, and all there would be left in packet 4 would be the interview letter. Am I missing something? what could the forms be?

EVOLUTION,

In packet 4, besides the appointment letter , there are other documents in there that has information about how to present the applicants paperwork in a specific order. Also there are information and documents in there that will inform the applicant that the visa is not gauranteed and that plans should not be made to quit a job, sell a house, etc.

I believe the email you have received can apply for more than just the K-1 type visa, so perhaps other types of visas do have additional forms needed to be filled by the applicant but the K-1 visa (based on my wife's experience) there was no need to fill up additional forms in packet 4. Basically there was just more information besides the appt letter and instructions for the applicant.

Good luck to both of you. As far as getting a 1-way ticket for her, I'd suggest calling the airlines directly to see if they can get you and your fiance on the same flight. Good Luck again.

regards,

George

EVOLUTION,

With the airline situation, heres what we did.

I bought a roundtrip on priceline.com, costed about 1200 total including tax.

My fiancee called a travel agency in thailand and she bought a one-way on the same flight for 24000 baht. Thats about 200 dollars cheaper than i could find anywhere online. I will ask my fiancee the phone number of that travel agency and ill get it to you.
