Hello!

I had a question about submitting an expedite during the NVC stage of the K1 visa process.

My fiance (UK) and I just received our NOA2. I am facing a very dire situation in the United States - my oldest child (who is 17) is in emergency residential care for an eating disorder, and her facility is in another state 10 hours away. I will need to relocate there temporarily in about 6 weeks when she is in her step down care...possibly for 1-2 months. My younger child (who is 15) cannot come with me. As a widow, I have no other family who can care for my younger child.

The eating disorder facility is willing to write a report detailing that my older daughter is in a life-or-death situation that requires me to relocate, and that they would urge an expedited processing of my fiance's K1 visa to ensure that my older daughter can have the support she needs from me, while my other daughter is safely with my fiance.

My question is, would I need to wait until I get my case number from NVC (approximately two weeks after the NOA2) before I could file the expedite? At this stage, if the expedite were approved, how fast would it speed up his medical and interview? He has already secured everything he needs, other than completing the DS-160 and scheduling the two appointments.

Expedite requests to the NVC for K1's are usually automatically denied.

This is because K1's are expeditiously processed by NVC.  They just create a case number, invoice number, and put it in a pile for the next round of packages to be sent to the embassy.

You will need to contact the embassy to request the expedite.  You will need the case number and invoice number, if I recall correctly.

K-1s are already expedited through NVC.  You must  get your case number from NVC, then request the consulate to expedite.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Not sure I have come across an expedited medical. Certainly contact the Consulate and remember that an expedited case will be quicker but not quick

Thank you so much. I will do that then. Any advice for this? It'd be going to the London embassy.

I know there's probably a slim chance it would help speed things up, but I have to try.
