Did you ignore sending bonafide marriage evidence?

Our petition was submitted with only a marriage certificate as proof of our marriage/relationship. We were advised on what to include by a local diocese and it may be that they were not aware that we should include more. We were approved on the 25th October with no RFE.

Maybe they will become more strict on this point when they are less backlogged.

They might but I think the additional information asked for is clearly applicable to couples who have or are living together. Newlyweds who have never even lived in the same country yet, won't be able to provide anything but affidavits. Even those don't carry much meaning or weight for newlyweds.

Looks like USCIS is being lenient on the requirements.

At the same time it's no doubt better to get all the joint evidence you can a "normal" prudent couple would have from the "get go".

Life insurance policy for one especially if there are kids in the picture.

Will also.

I did the same thing C & J did, I have just sent my marriage certificate, and I didn't even send any pictures (even though I had many)

The bottom line is that USCIS will not stop or RFE your case for lock of enough bonafide evidence, but be sure if you haven't send enough bonafide evidence that you will be given a chance to give those evidence at the embassy interview

Newlyweds who have never even lived in the same country yet, won't be able to provide anything but affidavits.

Not necessarily true.

I did have life insurance, trust, will and joint bank account for my wife.

Wasn't for the I-130 [K3/K4] but for the embassy interview and later when doing the AOS.

we also sent only marriage cert and got approved without touching and REFs.

however, we started to compile documents for the interview: wedding photos, emails, life insurance, phone bills, general correspondence, bank statement that show my husband as a user, airplane tixs and passport stamps, and we will hear from the lawyer of what else we could and should include in.

Thank you. The thread is about filing the petition. Unfortunately, by the time there's a visa interview, most aren't really newlyweds anymore. By the time of AOS, they've lived together in the same country.

The I-129F for K-3 asks for only the marriage cert. while the I-130 asks for the bona fide #######. Seems inconsistent to me...especially given the I-129F is the document that theoretically brings the wife over to the US.

Again, the I-130 is used for multiple purposes, not just as a precurser to an I-129F for spouse. When used for AOS only or DCF cases, the additional bona fide relationship evidence is usually both applicable and available. The purpose of this thread (It was originally posted in the CR1 forum as well.) was to gather anecdotal data about the need (or not) for such evidence in newlywed, never lived in the same country, cases.

It continues to show the additional evidence is not needed for such cases.

We sent in a copy of our marriage book (issued by the gvt Indonesia) and certified translation only. No photos, letters, phone bills, or any of that nonsense. Identical evidence sent in with the 129F. They were both approved. No wonder CIS is locked up, they are getting stacks of c--p they dont ask for or require.

Interview prep materials? THEY are extensive, that's where proof of marriage ongoing relationship is determined. Consulate advised us so.

USCIS is getting stacks of c--p, but most of it they did ask for. People are afraid of RFEs and the requirement of proof of a bona fide marriage is in the instructions. If they wanted to not get it for K3 or from newlyweds, they could put out an updated K3 guide saying bona fides don't need to be proved for newlyweds. This thread is showing that you can get approvals without it, so it is not required for cases where the newly weds have not lived together.
