Is it okay if my engagement is cheap?

Its not gold, like 30 dollars, i wonder if USCIS can judge the value of the ring. We did not want pay a lot for ring, because its more symbolic gold or not gold.

I have yet to read a post where they even care about a ring.

Lots of genuine couples have no rings.

Conversely, getting a ring means nothing.

 My ring is a stainless steel thing. Nothing fancy about it. Save $$ for the honeymoon!

What they care about in terms of eligibility for the visa is that you have physically met in person within 2 years of filing, among the other requirements.

don't sweat the small stuff/  this process is hard enough without adding things to worry about

I never got an engagement ring and we wore cheap silicone wedding rings to our AOS interview. As in, the silicone rings that cost a couple of dollars apiece. No one ever questioned us about it. Total non-issue.

 

Focus on more tangible proof of a genuine relationship, like flight bookings, hotel reservations, and other easily documented info about time you spent together.

My husband gave me a BRACELET.  And it was a family piece so he paid nothing for it, and technically I don't even own it and it lives in a safety deposit box most of the time.

We didn't even get properly engaged, nor do either of us have an engagement ring. We just decided we want to get married and spend the rest of our lives together, and that was that. You don't need to have a proper engagement or a ring to solidify your will to marry.

Uscis didn't even look at or as about my ring in my greencard interview. I wouldn't stress too much about it x

They wouldn't and shouldn't look at your ring. There are certain religions, for example, that do not use jewelry.
