Right now change your address by completing and filing Form AR-11 online, and also updating/changing it to your new/now address in your online 'myUSCIS profile'.

Thank you for your reply. A change is not needed as yet. I expect to submit the full application this weekend. The website says NVC document review time is now 3 months. So things could change by then.

Is it possible to change the delivery address for the green card after having submitted the DS260? For instance if one were to establish a more permanent address between submission and the interview.

assuming that you are filing for a visa... it's too early for you to even do anything about the green card delivery address. that will be done later when you have an approved visa and cross into the US, so no need to update the address at the NVC stage if you already submitted everything. you can mention that to the officer at the interview as well.

The application is for my wife. I have not submitted to NVC yet, but the DS260 does ask for a delivery address. As I understand from a friend, the person has to accept and sign for the card in person and perhaps gets 1 day notice of delivery at most.

yea that stuff can be changed later because if your visa does get approved, the cbp officer will ask you where the green card needs to be delivered. these folks are fully aware that in the year(s) it takes to approve a visa, people move.

Thanks for that. I am currently in the US and she is in Thailand. I expect I will setup a permanent address before she gets a visa interview.

use the address you have today, and then explain why/when you moved - thankfully that part is the easy one in this process

As said, don't worry about it. Your wife can provide the new address later during the visa interview, likely when paying GC fee after visa is issued, at the immigration when entering US and by doing AR11 right after entering the US so the new GC gets delivered to the new address.

Currently staying at my mother's while having medical treatment at the VA. It's a small place so need to set up a permanent place.

Per USCIS:

Quote

If You Move After You Enter the United States

  • We will mail your Green Card to the most recent U.S. mailing address that we have on file. This could be the address you provided to the DOS at the time of your immigrant visa interview or to the CBP officer when you are admitted to the United States.
  • If you plan on living at a different U.S. address immediately after you enter the United States, please give that address to the CBP officer or update your address (after taking the identity verification quiz and creating your USCIS online account) to ensure that your card arrives at your new home.
  • If you move after you arrive in the United States, please update your address with USCIS by visiting our Change of Address page or by calling the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283. Also, we recommend that you update your address online with the U.S. Postal Service or by visiting your local U.S. post office.

You don't have to sign for the greencard.  Passport after the interview - likely, but not the greencard.

Your wife can submit to update the address once it's established and verify the address on file with the CO at her interview.  Don't sweat it.
