Inquiry about observerships

Hello, can anybody confirm this? I want to do observerships in the USA for medical residency purposes. I have F2 visa. These observerships require only shadowing the doctor, no hands-on whatsoever but you can get a performance based letter of recommendation in the end. Am I permitted to do this? Or do I have to change my status to B1/B2 or something. I am going to graduate this month from uni.

For example, F-2 visa holders usually can’t work with their visas since they can’t usually obtain a work permit. They can, however, engage in unpaid voluntary work

While you can take vocational or recreational courses on a part-time basis, you are not typically allowed to enroll in university or college programs full-time to pursue a Bachelor's or graduate degree program with an F-2 visa.

typical disclaimers would apply here... make sure to check with the organization that you plan on this and make them aware of your visa status. when in doubt, consult with a legal professional.

Yes, I think this is correct. I have a friend that was married to someone on an F1. She spend several months just shadowing people, volunteering at a hospital, and studying for the exam that allows you to be a doctor in the US (sorry, forgot the name). Then she applied for her residency and got into some very good places.
