If only there were more muslims like Dean.... who has spoke out against violence.... then there might be more understanding about Islam.

Then again, if there weren't so many people who hated Islam just because they think they are all terrorists, there might be even more understanding.

The number of muslum people I know has nothing to do with my feelings on the subject.... The same question could be asked of the people in the muslum countries that publicly display their hatred for Americans and British People.... how many do they actually know... or are basing their hatred on what some Cleric has told them...

Amen.

Or who hate Islam because they have no desire to learn anything about it except what they are fed by the slanted media on which they choose to base their opinions.

I base my feeling on the subject.... after spending 7 years of my teenage years in a muslim country and mixing with real muslim people.... they are the ones who are being hurt the most by the radical teachings of a few...

People in Islamic countries have very little chance of learning anything about the westen world Christian or otherwise.... if is forbidden for them to do so...

That is a shame, and ignorance at its core. Unfortunately its not going to stop unless the Muslim community stands against it.

What I'm saying though is that it seems that many people think that the radicals' interpretation of Islam is an accurate representation of what Islam stands for. You know, "religion of hate" and all that.

To them, it's Islam itself that is dangerous, not just the "Islamicists". That's also what I read from the original article posted.

How do we help change peoples minds?

When those are the loudest and persistent voices and the millions of regular, peaceful Muslims say nothing, why is it a surprise that the radicals and their interpretation are the most well known representation of the religion?

How should I know? I don't think that it's representative, so I'm not sure why other people do.
