I had a joint I-751/N-400 combo interview 3 weeks ago. I was told I’d be approved for both applications and the officer explained he couldn’t put them both through in the computer at the same time. I got a paper saying a decision could not be made at this time but he did tell me that’s due to the computer issues and that he’d process it as soon as the system allowed him to.

I got my I-797 notice of action with my I-751 application receipt number in the mail yesterday with the following message:

We have approved your I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. Our records also indicate we have approved your form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Because we also approved your N-400, you will not receive a new Permanent Resident Card (also known as a Green Card). Instead once you have taken the Oath of Allegiance, you will receive a Certificate of Naturalization, which will be proof of your U.S. citizenship. If you have questions regarding this process, pleasecontact the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283.”

However I haven’t received a I-797 NOA with my N-400 application receipt number and my N-400 case status online still looks like this:

Has anyone else found themselves in this kind of a situation? If so, can anyone share how this went for them so I know what to expect?

Any anecdotal experiences would be appreciated. Trying to reach out through the USCIS customer service line has been unsuccessful for me as the automated service won’t re-direct to a live agent whenever I’ve tried.

Thanks! Do you recall how long it was from the interview to the oath ceremony for your wife’s case?

You were right. It took awhile, but saw this update on Case Status Online today. Hopefully I get the notice and the oath ceremony sooner rather than later! Can’t wait to be done with this process.
