I filed I-130 for my mother who lives outside the US in March 2021 and received an NOA with receipt number shortly after. I've been checking the case status on USCIS and it currently says "Case is being actively reviewed". How long is I-130 taking for parents these days?

Also, after I-130 is approved, what's next? I'm not so clear on all the steps that come after.

Is it also true that my mother can live with me while I-130 is pending?

Processing times for IR5 (parent visas) are the same U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, or child under 21.

But, don't pay attention to the processing times. On average it takes about 1 year before the petition is approved.

After the visa is approved the case will move to NVC and your mother will have to file the DS260 and you'll have to complete I-864.

After that DQ occurs and you'll have to wait for an interview date.

Your mom is not allowed to live with you while the I-130 is pending. But, if she has a B2 or ESTA privileges she can visit you. But entry is not guaranteed.
