My fiancee is from Zimbabwe, but they scheduled her interview in South Africa. Her passport was stamped through April 8th and she had her interview on February 16th. She passed everything, but they gave her a 221g because she needs to still submit her South Africa police clearance. She applied for it back in December and we still haven't received it yet. Right now they are holding her passport at the embassy. Is it going to be a problem if it takes longer than April 8th to get her police clearance?

passport was stamped?  how?  by whom?

the visa is not a stamp

it will not have a visa page till it is approved and issued

much will depend on the medical exam and when it was done as the visa expires 6 months from date of medical

Passport was stamped at point of entry in South Africa. She is not a South African citizen, so the stamp has an expiration date of 8 April.

The passport is being held at the embassy pending the police clearance. Visa has not been issued yet. Still waiting on that one form.

if she needs to leave South Africa , she will need to get the passport back or ask for extended visitor

Foreign nationals who wish to extend their visa while in South Africa should visit the nearest office of the South African Department of Home Affairs in order to file an application. The request must be submitted in-person. Alternatively, visitors can decide to use the services of a registered immigration practitioner.

South African PCCs take a long time. I applied for mine mid July and received it mid September (two months).

You might want to hop on Facebook and search  Police Clearances for South Africans by PostNet Pretoria CBD to see how long people have been waiting.

If you think it might not arrive before April 8 send me a PM. I can direct you to services that expedite the process.

Hi. Her police clearance has been processed, but she still needs to send it in to the embassy. My question is, will she be denied if the administrative processing (which I've read can take up to 60 days) goes past the April 8th of her passport stamp?

I would contact the embassy and explain the situation.

I am aware when going into AP some members have asked for their passport back.

So, I do not think she will be denied if everything is in order.

Please keep us updated about the process and write a review.

Not a lot of reviews out of the SA consulate.

The embassy allowed her to make an appointment to pick up her passport for now. We tried to pick up the police clearance but the office was closed. Not sure why. We are really feeling defeated right now.

I'm so sorry. Getting police clearances from SA is extremely frustrating (I always use an agent).

Hopefully you can pick it up on Thursday and the embassy will allow you to reschedule the appointment to pick up the passport.

Criminal records office closed because of unpaid rent. Absolutely unbelievable.
