Managed to fill out the I-134, signed, scanned, and emailed.

She went in with a folder of 75+ pages of various documents,  not just the Affidavit of Support.  And was approved, pending sending in an original of one document that she only brought a photocopy of.  Sigh. Always something.

What original documents did they request?

The Registro Civil de Nacimiento (birth certificate) for her son. She brought a copy but forgot the original. Got left out of the mountain of paperwork as she prepared her file for the trip.

This was an ordeal. It seemed like nothing in Bogota went according to instructions she had previously been given necessitating multiple changes of flights and more. Glad this is almost over. Should have visas in their passports in a matter of a few days.

And then we still have the trip to the US, the wedding, the Adjustment of Status, and applying for a F-2 for her daughter who aged out while the world shut for COVID. Feels like this is near closing the first chapter of a very long journey.

Thank you for the response and congratulations nearing the end. We are just starting the process (gathering documents and filling out the I-129F) and are prepared to wait 12-15 months before her approval. My fiance will have to travel from Venezuela to Bogota and from reading this thread I will just have her stay in a hotel for 7-10 for medical, interview and her visa.

It has been 22 months since I filed the I-129F. Hopefully it will go faster for you.

We had issues getting appointments scheduled. The doctor refused to schedule an appointment before we had the embassy appointment set. But the embassy was not offering many appointments and when they did the doctor didn't have available appointments prior to the embassy date. That delayed nearly 4  months.

I'm not sure how fast they will have the visa ready for pickup. She might have to stay a few days past the interview to collect the visa. The embassy told my fiancée that she has to come back in person to collect the passports with visas. They wouldn't send them by Servientrega or DHL.

We got my fiancée and her son an AirBnB over in Chapinero for this weekend. There are probably cheaper options but felt it was better to have a full apartment and kitchen space in a safe part of the city for a stay of 4 days, especially with a young child (11yo boy). It was only about a 15 min taxi ride to the embassy.
