I have received a email from my lawyer and have a receipt # I went to the

USCIS website and input my receipt # and clicked on the link to the CSC the info states

they are currently working on Dec filers? Is that inaccurate? I recall reading a forum

that it was not current info.

Regardless I feel somewhat better I know there is a long road ahead for us but at

least the money order was cashed and the process has started.

Also It looks like I am moving from Michigan to California in the next few weeks. Is there

anything to be concerned about if I change my address now or should I wait for Approval?

My lawyer said its not a problem to change address, but to wait for US approval. What exactly does that mean? How far off is approval? Thanks in advance Jay

Jaybird,

The December processing date seen on the USCIS site is the oldest petition(s) they are working on/processing - it is by no means the most recent - which always causes concern - but not to worry, if your case is like the average/typical case, you will be fine.

As for moving... I moved between the time of the NOA1 and NOA2 - I submitted a change of address online (at the same site where you can check your status) and had no issues. Be aware though - if you are close to an approval, the change may not take affect in time and your approval will go to the 'old' address - I think if you're more than 3 weeks from an anticipated approval, you would be fine (the web site says it could take longer - of course).

If you :time: you will see a projected date for your approval :) Statistics of this site are of huge help to estimate the waiting time! I would say around 89-92 days, between the NOA1 (date when they say they received your case) date and the NOA 2 (date when approval is issued) date. but these used to be the dates so far; but it seems to me that the interval seems somewhat longer nowadays... so timeline will help you more :)

Good luck and here's for a speedy approval

Timeline shows up.

Reason that the topic was moved to this forum is because your original post was concerned about the filing times and location of your petition.
