Hello everyone,

My interview was scheduled today at 9:30 am at Holtsville NY, I got there at 8:30am the wait was around an hour the interview was okay the interviewer was really nice.

First thing he asked me if your spouse is here with me today I said no, I didn’t knew he was allowed to be here (nowhere in the interview schedule notice saids to bring your spouse and more with covid restriction) I asked is it a requirement to he to be here? and he didn’t gave me a yes but he said just because your conditional status was not removed them I said my spouse is in the parking lot I can call him so he can get in, he said no is fine let’s get the citizenship process done first.

We started the English and US history and government test, the officer asked me to write a sentence, and read out loud another sentence, asked me 6 questions I answered correctly he said good job and he proceed, unfortunately the server was down in his computer and he couldn’t have access to my documents, he asked me if I upload my taxes I said yes and he asked me if I have them with me and I didn’t so he gave me the Naturalization Interview Results I passed the exam but

B) A DECISION CANNOT YET BE MADE ABOUT YOUR APPLICATION

Because he needs to see my taxes…

I feel so annoyed I took off a day off from work and drove 1 hour and because their server was down a decision cannot yet be made…

The officer said that everything was fine and there’s nothing to worry about but I will get a notification by mail about an update but all know how long that takes…

I will appreciate any  guidance  on this situation, thank you and good luck.

I think now you just wait for your updates online. However just wanna point out few things for others as well.

1. It seems you missed your chance to do the combo interview. It's always a good idea for both to go especially if ROC is still pending. Let them deny your spouse at the gate, don't assume yourself. At least then one can say the security didn't allow the spouse in. CO seemed like you came alone, i'll go with just the citizenship part.

2. Always bring a copy of all supporting documents whether at uscis interview or at consular interview. Things get lost internally or software glitches n such.

Yes, it was a requirement because your N400 cannot be approved until your I751 is approved. And for your I751 to be approved, they needed to talk to your husband too.

This is also for you and others in the same situation: always bring a copy of the submitted application. Sometimes they lose documentation, or they say they don't have it when they do.

What about me that my I-751 is approved and 10 year card document on hand but n-400 interview next month, is it really necessary to go with my spouse since it will be difficult for her to attend with me due to her job?

I didn’t read anywhere that it was a requirement to go with your spouse for N400,  I think my condition was different because my conditional resident wasn’t removed and they tried to do a combo interview but I’m so unsure at this point I will consider asking your spouse to go with you.

The spouse should ALWAYS come to the interview if you have a pending i-751 (doesn't matter if it's only the i-751 or the i-751 AND the N-400 as a combo interview). The i-751 is a joint petition, so most often the officer will want to ask your spouse some questions too.

For the N-400 the spouse is not needed and in most cases not allowed to come with you. The N-400 is not a joint petition.

Thanks guys. I am now fully convinced I need not to go with my spouse. Her naturalization certificate, our current tax document is enough to prove we are still married. Thanks once more.
