RFE for Birth Certificate that I already submitted?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue, as I am perplexed. We receieved a RFE that we need to send a copy of the birth certificate.

However, I submitted the long form birth certificate, that was ordered from Sweden and stamped with the small round seal from the Swedish Tax Agency's (i.e., followed exact instructions from the travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html). So i am totally confused what the RFE is for.

If anyone is from Sweden reading this, does my marital status on the extract of population register need to be updated to indicate I am married and this is why USCIS rejected it? If yes, I am not sure how to go about this because my marriage certificate was submitted to Sweden and there is a back log for updating it in their system.

If anyone has experienced this please let me know how you handled it. Thank you!!!!

I'm taking a guess that you haven't updated your timeline on VJ to indicate you have filed it and are asking about an RFE for K1 AOS?

1. Did you submit all three forms? I485?

I765?

I131?

2. Did you submit a PHOTOCOPY of a BC for EACH form?

1 for I485?

1 for I765?

1 for I131?

Please indicate which form you received an RFE for.

Sounds like you submitted an original too when it asks for photocopies only....

UK citizen here. Got the same thing six weeks after submitting I-485 w/ long form birth certificate copy. Completely confused just like you - doesn't seem any reason for it. I just re-uploaded as a response to the RFE. Haven't heard anything since, other than confirmation of RFE response being received. Sorry this doesn't give any valuable advice, but at least you know it happens to others, too :)

Sometimes USCIS will loose attachments, especially if they are of different size or type of paper.

I would just send in the BC again to respond to the RFE.

We had the same thing happen with an Egyptian birth certificate. Did you submit a copy of the birth certificate in color? We accidentally submitted a black and white version of my husband's birth certificate so we uploaded pictures of the colored one into the system and didn't hear anything back. Then a week later we got a notice for his biometrics.

My husband and I were also RFE'd about his birth certificate and marriage certificate ( it wasn't from the CSO). When we went to CSO to get both documents they come out in Arabic, and translated it , will we be rejected again? Is there a bilingual version?

The one that we submitted from the CSO in egypt looks like the one in this link below. I'm pretty sure our issue was that it was a black and white copy we submitted, so we took colored pictures of his certificate again and submitted it via the website online. I assume it was accepted because we got the biometrics appointment shortly afterwards and haven't heard anything since.

Thank you so much for your reply this helps so much!! I was so confused because my cousin did this same process 2 years ago and they accepted the handwritten original marriage certificate!

I uploaded this one with scans for the front and back. Do I need to upload the rejected certificate too or the Arabic one? or is just this Bilingual one fine?

I uploaded the Bilingual just like the one you sent above one for the birth certificate and the marriage certificate with scans for the front and back. Do I need to upload the rejected certificate too or the Original Arabic birth Certificate too? or is just this Bilingual alone is all they want?

I don't think you need to upload the rejected one since they already have it. I'd only upload what they ask for.
